Delaware Political Weekly: Jan. 5-11, 2018
1. Well, That’s Quite The AG Race We Have Now. While I’m sure that there were insiders who might have known about this, I don’t know of anybody who was predicting a Kathleen Jennings-LaKresha Roberts Democratic primary even a week ago. And, yes, I think it will be a two-person race. What longtime political observers […]
Song Of The Day: Jan. 12, 2018
Agent Double O Soul: “The Five Stairsteps aren’t everyone’s cup of meat, but I love their harmonies, especially the way they stagger the backup vocals during the verse on this one”:
Patrice Gilliam-Johnson: Did She Jump Or Was She Pushed?
The incumbent Secretary of Labor, who has been acting Secretary Of Labor under John Carney largely b/c one state senator has held up her nomination, has taken a new gig at Delaware State University as Dean of Graduate, Adult And Continuing Studies, according to this WDEL report. While it’s possible that Patrice Gilliam-Johnson would have […]
General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thurs., Jan. 11, 2018
You may have seen that President Pro-Tempore Dave McBride has provided a room in Legislative Hall for lobbyists. I generally support the move, although I doubt that it will have the desired effect. McBride’s goal is to minimize lobbyists’ presence throughout the Hall. While it will have some impact, there’s a reason why they’re called […]

You’ve heard of the Friends Of Distinction, but likely haven’t properly appreciated them. They’re responsible for gems such as ‘Going In Circles’ and ‘Love Or Let Me Be Lonely’. This was the flip side of ‘Grazin’ In the Grass’. Agent Double O Soul loves the lush production. I love the vocal by Jessica Cleaves. An […]
BREAKING: Bane Nails It! LaKresha Roberts Running For AG
Yes, SW broke the news below. But Bane had it before anybody. Here’s the article that Sussex Watcher provided: http://delawarepublic.org/post/lakresha-roberts-seeks-ag-job-years-election Here is her bio: http://www.leadershipdelaware.org/index.cfm?ref=70200&ref3=173&print=%27Y%27&ref4=3 Color me impressed and intrigued.
General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Weds., Jan. 10, 2018
Here is yesterday’s quote unquote Activity Report. Let’s see…Ruth Briggs King carrying the Koch Brothers’ water on prevailing wage? Check. Pushing the cannabis report back until the end of February? Check. Pushing the School Consolidation Report back until the middle of May? Check. In a Bizarro Universe, some would call this progress. Not much in […]

Kenny Gamble before he became ‘Gamble-Huff’. Agent Double O Soul likes the ‘spare arrangement’ and ‘atmospheric production’. Also likes how the bass player keeps things moving along:
Breaking: Resolution Calling For KHN Resignation Passes NCC Council
By a vote of 10-3, according to the WDEL story. Three no votes were KHN, Bill Powers and Dave Tackett. Karen Hartley-Nagle said prior to the vote that she would not resign. She delivered remarks after the vote, but all the council members other than Bob Weiner walked out and did not listen to her […]
BREAKING: Sussex County Council Defeats Right-To-Work Ordinance
Looks like the Koch Brothers will need to up the ante: http://www.wdel.com/news/sussex-county-council-votes-against-right-to-work-ordinance/article_e687391a-f564-11e7-9c7f-4b076b3677f5.html 4-1 with only Arlett voting yes. But the no votes were largely driven by a legal opinion, not b/c anyone in Sussex County experienced a change of heart.
Delaware General Assembly Pre-Game Show: Tuesday, January 9, 2018
I’ll save the ‘unfinished business’ threads for others. Here. Here. And…oh, never mind, the News Journal didn’t bother. Neither the House nor the Senate has an agenda today. Which gives me plenty of time to talk about three issues important to me and, I hope, to you. 1. Carney To Do The Right Thing. According […]
Song Of The Day: Jan. 9, 2018
A great Motown song that I’d never heard before. With a story every bit as fascinating as the song. I’d never heard of Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers, a group that was, yes, from Vancouver, and signed by Motown on the recommendation of Supremes Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson. But I’ll bet you’ve heard of […]
Kathleen Jennings Running For Attorney General
She will be a formidable candidate. Here is the story. Former AG Charles Oberly said today that he would not run and instead would endorse Jennings. Jennings’ candidacy also renders that of Tim Mullaney basically irrelevant. Not that it was relevant to begin with. So, will Sean Lynn run? Will the guy who John Carney […]
