Kathy Jennings Campaign Funded by Conflicts

I was wondering why Kathy Jennings' campaign was awash in in money. Delaware Dem has the answer:
Then you have Kathy Jennings, a Democratic candidate for Attorney General. You can say she is the establishment’s pick for the office, and thus, as such, she has received more corporate and institutional donations. For example, her latest reports reveal donations from JP Morgan Chase, Pfizer and the Delaware City Refinery. Her primary opponent Chris Johnson’s campaign manager, Sarah Fulton, rightfully points out that these donations may be a conflict of interest if your goal as Attorney General is to fight the opioid epidemic, an epidemic caused in part by pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer; and they may be a conflict of interest if your goal as Attorney General is to punish corporate polluters of our environment, like Delaware City Refinery.
Vote for Chris Johnson.

I must hear it 50 times a day "the economy is doing great!" I die a little inside everytime. It speaks to how the disenfranchised have internalized the elite's world view. So, once more for the record: The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is not the economy. - The Dow Jones Industrial Average, or simply the Dow, is a stock market index that measures the profits of 30 large, publicly owned companies and how those profits are valued by speculators. - The profits of those companies, and the speculators view of the profits do not reflect new factories being built or new jobs being created. They did once, but they don't now. - In fact, today's profits are derived from bookkeeping innovations, new tax breaks coming online, or frequently laying off American workers. - Since NAFTA, the profits of companies listed on the DJIA have been created by sending jobs to Mexico and paying the remaining workers less relative to their productivity. Is that good for "the economy?" Tom Carper would have you think so. - When someone says "the economy is doing great" and uses the DJIA as shorthand for the economy, they might be a wealthy person with large holdings in the stock market (like a US Senator, or a TV talking head for example). Yes, their "economies" is doing great. - Or, more likely, they are simply a sleepwalking dupe who absent mindedly repeats the bullshit that he hears on TV.

Carper is Stonewalling Calls to Divest

Dem Senator Carper is now just trying to run out the clock and pray September 6th hurries up and gets here. Each day looks worse for Carper and local and national news outlets continue to examine his execrable record. Today it is the fact that Carper talks big about fighting the opioid epidemic, but the fact is that has received major campaign donations from the very companies his state is suing over their role in the crisis. The Harris campaign was quick to make an issue of it:
“I call on Carper to immediately return campaign contributions from opioid companies and to divest of those investments,” says Harris. “Other lawmakers, including Carper’s colleague Claire McCaskill, have done the same.”
Meanwhile, seven hours into the controversy, the Carper campaign is flummoxed and stonewalling the challenger's call for some semblance of alignment between what Carper says and what he does.

If she wins the primary, Kathy McGuiness is the only “Democrat” I will vote against in November

I'm lazy. I haven't hated on the Kathy McGuiness for auditor campaign in these pages in a way that it richly deserves to be hated on. Her run for Auditor is the absolute epitome of everything that is wrong with the Delaware Democratic Party. This campaign is the tar in the overflowing ashtray of the smoked-filled backroom. To accept this role marks McGuiness as a souless vestigial tail hanging on the ass-end of corrupt Peter C. Schwartzkopf, her reputation from here on out caked with Pete's shit balls. Park City Kathy is an unqualified political hack that was hand picked by party insiders in order to have a compliant puppet in an important office. The whole thing reeks. Vote for Kathleen Davies. If that doesn't work vote for whatever idiot the GOP nominates.

And while I'm familiar with Godwin's law, the types of stories breaking in the past week point to the fact that Trump is working on holding onto power at any cost. Natural born citizens are having passport applications denied because that belong to a certain scapegoated minority group. A paramilitary law enforcement agency operates above the law General lawlessness is tolerated as long as it promotes the goals of the rising regime. The formal "opposition" is unwilling to accept the scope of the emergency. A cult of personality continues growing around a leader who demands that followers first loyalty is to him and not the country.
