Republicans Become Dumber – Is That Possible?

Republicans Become Dumber – Is That Possible?

Yep, it’s possible.

Belief in evolution among Republicans has dropped more than 10 percentage points since 2009, according to a new poll by the Pew Research Center.

Pew found that 43 percent of Republicans said they believed humans and other living beings had evolved over time, down from 54 percent in 2009. More (48 percent) said they believed all living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.

Oh my, that’s embarrassing.  Guess all this talk of the importance of STEM classes doesn’t resonate with the GOP.  Science, technology, engineering and math are obviously not Jesus approved.  Good luck with that.

Delaware Politics’ Tennessee Walker Wins The Misogynist Award

Tennessee Walker is touted as one of the “reasonable” voices of DelawarePolitics.net and the GOP, but he’s not reasonable.  He’s exactly like Rush and co. when it comes to women.  Seems like if you scratch the surface of a proclaimed “reasonable” Republican and you’ll find this garbage.

Cookie Hooky Day!

Filed in Delaware by on December 16, 2013 2 Comments

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m really far behind this holiday season!  Today I took my daughter out of school for a cookie hooky day.  Chocolate chips, peanut butter, sugar cookies and chocolate-orange- coffee truffles are on the agenda.  Guess I’ll start shopping tomorrow! If you’re done all this stuff… that makes me […]

Ladies And Gentlemen, I Give You… Another Snow Day!

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I have things to get done – a lot of things!  But… a snow day brings out the kid in me. Most schools are closed.  The forecast is calling for 4-6 inches of snow, but given that they called for an inch on Sunday… I’m expecting several feet! Enjoy and drive safely.

I Fear For Our Daughters

I Fear For Our Daughters

hen incidents like this happen a chill runs up my spine.

A Michigan woman who suffered a dangerous, painful and prolonged miscarriage when she was 18 weeks pregnant is at the center of a lawsuit that claims she was denied appropriate treatment by a Catholic hospital guided by religious, not medical, concerns.

Yeah, I know.  The new Pope is saying awesome stuff… perhaps he can back those words up with deeds?

What happened to this woman is 100% unacceptable.  They knew the pregnancy wasn’t viable.  They knew the safest treatment option.  They knew they were endangering her health.  And I’m sure they knew she had two children at home, because, as a mother, I can’t imagine not worrying (aloud) about my children when I’m in the emergency room.  But, I’m beginning to think that these Catholic bishops, and other “pro-lifers”, only consider pregnant women mothers because they seem a-okay with creating motherless children.

It’s as if losing a child is only okay if a woman suffers maximum pain and risks her health and life.  I can’t wrap my head around that, but these incidents keep happening so that’s the drill.

Could This Story Lead To Restricting A Pregnant Woman’s Movements?

Filed in National by on November 26, 2013 16 Comments

First, let me say, that no one in this story comes off looking good, but if you had to pick the biggest jerk it would be Olympic skier, Bode Miller. Here’s a rough timeline: Early 2012: Miller and McKenna meet through a matchmaking service. They fall into a relationship, occasionally hanging out on the yacht […]

Children Diagnosed – And Medicated – For ADHD On The Rise

Filed in National by on November 25, 2013 23 Comments

This is alarming: The number of children being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is on the rise, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And families increasingly are opting for medications to treat kids. Two-thirds of children with a current diagnosis are being medicated — a jump of 28 percent from […]

Another Business Commits Suicide

Can we please stop pretending that “business” owners are smart.  They aren’t – just ask Komen. So this happened:

Like many consumers who have had a bad experience, Jen Palmer wrote a review online in 2008 after the Christmas presents her husband ordered from Kleargear.com never arrived. Years later, thanks to her online review, the couple is facing a damaged credit score and a $3,500 fine.

$3,500 fine?  How could that happen?

Red Clay School District Bucks The Class Size Law

Red Clay School District Bucks The Class Size Law

So this happened:

Parents and educators have fought for years to keep class sizes small. But as school populations grow, those efforts run into physical and financial barriers. Sometimes schools run out of space and face difficult decisions. In most cases, there are two solutions: Build more classroom space and hire more teachers (which usually means raising taxes or moving money from other priorities) or approve a waiver allowing more students in classes than the law says is ideal. In the past few years, most Delaware districts have asked their school boards to approve waivers – and boards have always agreed. That changed last week when the Red Clay School Board rejected its district’s request, deadlocking in a 3-3 vote.

Color me surprised.  And while I completely understand the difficulties districts face following this law, it is a law.  An unfunded, feel good law, but a law nonetheless. That said… I like what the RCCD board did.

Please. Just Stop

Seriously? At least we know her mind won’t be preoccupied with haute couture. Here’s the black-on-black ensemble she sported last month when President Barack Obama officially nominated her: (Jewel Samad/AFP/Getty Images) And her battle gear of choice for today’s nomination hearing on Capitol Hill: (Tom Williams/CQ Roll Call) Mind you, nobody has ever accused HOH […]

This Is How Intimidation Looks

I can’t believe I’m writing another gun post, but this nonsense has to stop.  Take a look at this picture.  Read below to discover what it is. We Are Becoming (Have Become?) A Nation Of Cowards, Bedwetters And Murderers

These situations are becoming far too familiar.  A 19 year old, black woman got into a car accident.  Her cell phone was dead so she went to a nearby house and… The unnamed person who answered the door didn’t offer to help the stranded teen out, instead the Dearborn Heights resident fatally shot McBride in […]
