Red Clay Referendum And City Schools
The Red Clay Consolidated School District is holding a Capital Referendum on February 28, 2012. Included in this referendum is the addition of another new suburban elementary school. Let me begin by saying that I wouldn’t have a problem with the new school if Red Clay would ensure that its other schools didn’t suffer when a new school opened. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case. In the past 10 days my email has been filled with letters from community advocates and parents from the Highlands, Warner and Shortlidge community. Everyone has the same concern: New schools hurt existing schools, especially city schools. The evidence backs up their concerns.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Pulls Funding From Planned Parenthood
The Associated Press reports that Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the nation’s leading breast-cancer charity, will cut off its funding to Planned Parenthood affiliates, where the foundation has traditionally paid for preventive screening services.
And here I thought they cared about breast cancer. I thought they cared about breast cancer screenings, early detection, and saving lives. Looks like I was wrong, since it seems that the Susan G. Komen Foundation has decided that breast cancer is political. Guess helping poor women with breast cancer detection is one of those entitlements that must be stopped.
Eugene Robinson Asks “Why Does Mitt Romney Want To Be President?”
Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul have all laid out bold visions — more properly, hallucinations — of where they would take the country. But where is Romney’s shining city on a hill? What’s his “compassionate conservatism,” his “hope and change”? What is it that Mitt Romney, deep in his heart or down in his gut, really believes in?
Frank Knotts’ Last Post At Delaware Politics?
Frank Knotts, a contributor at Delaware Politics, has written a post about other contributors penchant for deleting comments they simply don’t agree with. This deleting of comments has been going on for quite a while, and fingers are being pointed at Don Ayotte – rightly so, imo. For the second time today I have been […]
My Thoughts On Last Night’s GOP Debate
I’ve always known Mitt Romney was going to be the nominee – whether the Republican base wanted him or not. They don’t, btw. That said, he may wrap it up sooner than later. So what happened last night…
Here They Go Again… GOP’s 37,586th Debate
Will Newt bring an ice bucket? Yes, I will be watching, because… because… because… I think I’m waiting for Newt to explode.
Miss Manners Would Be Appalled At Jan Brewer’s Classless Behavior
Jan Brewer obviously wasn’t raised right. “I asked him if he had read my book, ‘Scorpions for Breakfast.’ And he said that he read an excerpt and he didn’t think that I was very cordial,” Brewer said in the phone call to KFYI’s Mike Broomhead. “I said, ‘Well, we’ll just agree to disagree.’ And , […]
George Romney And Saul Alinsky – Not Kidding
When slum organizer Saul Alinsky, with the West Side Organization’s militant Negroes and clerics, wanted to meet with the white Detroit rulers, Romney indirectly arranged the meeting, and attended. That’s not all….
Mitt Romney And Self-Deportation
Romney was asked how he would reconcile his pledge that, as president, he wouldn’t order mass deportations of undocumented immigrants with his promise to crack down on illegal immigration. His answer: “self-deportation.” I guess they’ll just load up their SUV, strap the dog to the top, and go somewhere else.
ANOTHER Republican Debate Open Thread
If you’re watching (NBC at 9pm)… this thread’s for you. Here are my thoughts:
Romney’s been talkin’ tough all day. Tonight he has to bring that trash talk to Newt – as he’s been promising to do all day. My first thought was that Newt would take Mitt’s attacks and shove them back down his throat, and then I thought… maybe not. Okay, hear me out. Mitt Romney absolutely stinks at attacks. His delivery is really, really bad. Perhaps Newt plays the “reasonable” guy staring in amazement at the bumbling lunatic.
About That “Food Stamp President” Thing…
The new thing in GOPland is calling President Obama the “Food Stamp President.” But is it true? No, as with all things, more people were on food stamps under Bush.
Newt Takes The Lead In Florida
I am gobsmacked. Acorrding to a new poll, Gingrich leads with 34.4% to Romney’s 25.6%. Are Floridians really going to go for Newt? It boggles the mind, especially when you look at this.
No One Wants To Marry Mr. Electable
Throughout this political season, the only thing Mitt Romney hasn’t flip-flopped on is his reason for his getting the nomination: Electability.
Yawn.
He is the guy that proposes to a woman and cites being a good provider as the main reason she should marry him. He then adds that he’s dependable and quickly points out how passion is over-rated and not a good foundation for a marriage. Now, all of this may be true, depending on who Mr. Electable is proposing, but for most people it just doesn’t cut it.
