Christine O’Donnell Is Still Grifting — Halloween Edition

According to CNN, O’Donnell is working on shaking down her supporters for MORE money for her legal bills related the the FCC investigation into the misuse of her campaign funds. Apparently she is in settlement talks and it looks like she is looking for money to keep fighting the FCC over charges of misuse of campaign funds — misuses she admitted she did.

“I’m going to be straight forward and candid in this email – probably more candid and vulnerable than my political advisers would like!” O’Donnell said in a message to the supporters of her political action committee ChristinePAC. “I am facing a major decision and you play a large part in this decision.” […]

More Ethics Issues in Wilmington City Government

The next round of fallout from the Foxtail concert is detailed in Sunday’s NJ, where we learn that Parks and Rec Deputy Director Shawn Allen let Foxtail’s organizers use Allen’s non-profit to get a temporary liquor license. The problem, though:

More on the War on Women in NCCo County Council

The NJ picks up on our question about the NAACP bullying Councilwoman Lisa Diller and writes about the War on Women that Councilwoman Diller believes is being waged by Tom Gordon on the women in NCCo County Council. This is a good article by Adam Taylor, that adds some interesting history of NCCo folks flying off of the handle…

Policing Downtown Wilmington at the Expense of the Rest of Wilmington

Policing Downtown Wilmington at the Expense of the Rest of Wilmington

For many years (at least many of the years I’ve been in Wilmington), neighborhoods in Wilmington (certainly those neighborhoods under siege) have been clamoring for more WPD officers on the street. What was asked for was a Community Policing strategy — a deployment that would put officers on the street in neighborhoods, regularly patrolling and patrolling 24/7. Jim Baker was openly dismissive of this plan — even while he and his Police Chief used this plan to get City Council to authorize additional force strength and more equipment. Interestingly, the place that really did get Community Policing was Downtown. The part of Wilmington where people weren’t being shot and not a location of the drug business. Now we find that Mayor Williams is continuing in the Baker mode — actually expanding the number of uniformed officers who will be walking a beat — walking a beat! — in Downtown Wilmington:

The 62 Project: #’s 29 and 33

Today’s installment asks the musical question: “Do I grade on a curve when it comes to Republicans?” Why, yes, yes I do. Except when I don’t. Another question: Does public comment influence me. Yes, but only to a certain extent. Puzzled? I’ll make everything asĀ  clear as taupe (think stockings, as I often do). Starting now.

Today’s entries: Republican Mike Ramone and Democrat Andria Bennett

Christine O’Donnell is to Blame (Updated with Video)

On the Rachel Maddow Show right now, guest host Steve Kornacki is tracing all the Tea Party craziness and the GOP’s fear of primaries, and thus the resulting dysfunction in the GOP caucus, and the government shutdown and the debt default threats all the way back to September 14, 2010. The night of the Republican Delaware Primary. The night Christine O’Donnell beat Mike Castle. Here is the video:

The 62 Project: #’s 30, 31, 32

We begin the ranking of the 62 legislators smack dab in the middle. As a listaholic, the thought of doing a double countdown, both up to the top and down to the dregs, is close to orgasmic. And, um, the foreplay is just starting.

I laid out my criteria here. I’ll let the articles speak for themselves. In addition to expressing opinions on the rankings, please let me know how you’d like to see this countdown improved. I’m sure there will be subtle format changes as this moves forward.

To me, here’s the lede of today’s rankings: Being in the middle of the rankings does not mean ‘meeting expectations’. As it turns out, all three of the legislators profiled here should be better and should be ranked higher, making their performances so far disappointing, at least to me.

Announcing the 62 Project

Announcing the 62 Project

I am El Somnambulo, and I’m a listaholic.

Today I announce The 62 Project, which will ultimately yield my rankings of legislators from 1 to 62.

However, I intend for it to be much more than just a list. I will write a selective bio, some brief, some lengthy, on each state legislator. I want to give people who don’t really know the legislators that well the opportunity to know them better. For better or worse.

I also don’t want this to be just a snarkfest, although, to put it mildly, THERE WILL BE SNARK. Lots of it. Hey, can’t help myself.

So, how have I ranked the legislators?
