Song of the Day 10/10: Public Enemy, “State of the Union (STFU)”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on October 10, 2020 0 Comments

After what seemed like a split between Chuck D and Flavor Flav this spring, Public Enemy released a new album in June, “What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down?” It might lack the power the group harnessed in its heyday, but it contains just as much anti-establishment fire. The chorus of this one […]

Comment Rescue: Was Trump Ever Sick?

Filed in National by on October 10, 2020 14 Comments

Over at BlueDelaware commenter, Ben, brought up something I’ve been thinking: . It seems to me at this point, occams razor says that he was never actually sick. All “reports” of him being gravely ill were unofficial anyway. Maybe he really DID test positive. maybe he didnt and there is an outbreak at the WH […]

The Worst Press Narratives of the Last 30 Years

Filed in National by on October 10, 2020 2 Comments

While I think it is dawning on Americans that Republicans, as a whole, are full of shit, grifters and bad people – the press continues to promote some hoary threadbare myths.

Republicans represent “real Americans”.
Republicans promote family values.
Republicans are “good for the economy”.
Republicans promote law and order.
Republicans are strong on defense.

It is all nonsense. It isn’t just Trump. I get why some dumb Fox News zombie can go around thinking this complete bullshit, but I don’t see how “the media” can still go around dishing this shit out.

Song of the Day 10/8: Roy Eldridge and Anita Love, “Ain’t No Flies on Me”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on October 8, 2020 1 Comment

Everybody sing along! Uh, not you, Mike. Jazz trumpeter Roy Eldridge is considered the bridge between Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie — his rapid runs helped give birth to be-bop, but he didn’t like the style. He also grew tired of the racism he encountered as the only black musician in otherwise white bands, so […]

VP Debate Open Thread

Filed in Featured, National by on October 7, 2020 14 Comments

We already got a preview from Scott Walker (the Wisconsin one), who aided in debate prep for Pence.  It’s gonna be that Trump somehow prevented 2 million deaths b/c Trump stopped travel from China (which he didn’t), and that, if Biden had his way, 2 million more would be dead.  Pence is no pushover–he’s a […]

Coons says that a bipartisan foreign policy is possible, but he never lays out any responsibilities for the GOP.

For Coons, it always falls to Democrats to compromise.

Widely regarded at “ridiculous” and “irrelevant”, voters are fleeing the DEGOP in droves. Republicans are now the third party in 46% of Delaware’s Rep Districts.

Here are the districts where Republicans should not get automatic ballot access:

RD01 R-1380 I-2677
RD02 R-1330 I-3022

Elite Immunity Breaking Down Left and Right

Filed in National by on October 7, 2020 0 Comments

Well connected dunderheads, assholes, idiots, malicious hate-filled dumb fucks. They all thought the virus wasn’t a big deal because it was only killing the “right people”. that is to say – the poors and the browns. Trump still thinks that.

As COVID-19 cases spread through the White House and ruffle the Senate, cases among workers on Capitol Hill continue to rise in the center of American government, which to this day lacks a comprehensive testing regimen for all workers.

There are now 123 Legislative Branch employees or contractors who have tested positive — or are presumed positive — for COVID-19, according to Ashley Phelps, a Republican spokeswoman for the House Administration Committee. This total has increased by 20 since Aug. 28.

Lonely, sick, sad, pathetic

Filed in National by on October 6, 2020 5 Comments

Trump’s return to the White House was supposed to be a triumphant moment. An inspiring and iconic moment on par with Marines raising the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima. It didn’t play that way to me.

Song of the Day 10/5: Cab Calloway, “St. James Infirmary Blues”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on October 5, 2020 1 Comment

Donald Trump is making lots of noises about leaving the hospital, doctors’ recommendations be damned. Once upon a time they put people like that in what was known as a “lock hospital” — one where patients were put in restraints. Originally used for lepers, by the mid-18th century the term referred to facilities that treated […]

New York Times Exhumes Mike Castle to Moan About a Radicalized DEGOP

Don’t forget, Mike Castle played a big part in creating today’s fucking nuts DEGOP. He and Charlie Copeland can moan in the pages of the NYT all they want but it doesn’t change the fact that they encouraged the growth of the TeaParty because they thought they could control it.
