Trump says Biden wants to “destroy the suburbs” – How Biden should respond

Trump says Biden wants to “destroy the suburbs” – How Biden should respond

When Trump says shit like this (below), it must be tempting for the Biden team to get into the weeds of trying to educate this asshole on the topic of fair housing. Biden should resist this temptation and just point out what a crazy nutbag Trump is being.

Possible Biden Response: He sounds crazy because he is crazy.

Possible Biden Response: Poor guy. He is a mess.

Possible Biden Response: He sounds like he needs serious medical attention.

There are no persuadable voters. Nobody is going to be moved by a discourse on housing discrimination.

Here is what Trump said:

They’re absolutely determined to eliminate single family zoning, to destroy the value of houses and communities already built, just as they have in Minneapolis and other locations that you read about today. Your home will go down in value and crime rates will rapidly rise.

Joe Biden and his bosses from the radical left, want to significantly multiply what they’re doing now. And what will be the end result is you will totally destroy the beautiful suburbs. Suburbia will be no longer as we know it. So they want to defund and abolish your police and law enforcement, while at same time destroying our great suburbs.

Coons Says the Senate Isn’t Working Because… well, I’ll let Coons say it

Coons Says the Senate Isn’t Working Because… well, I’ll let Coons say it

COONS: So top causes (of Senate polarization). We don’t live together. So we travel back and forth to our home states every week. For Delaware, I’ve traveled back and forth to my home state almost every day, so I’m an exception.

But for most of the Senate, listening to Joe Biden, my predecessor, and asking him how he and John McCain, for example, built a working friendship over decades, everyone would come in on Monday and stay until Friday, and often move their families here and often live here for long periods of time.

Senators need to live, love and pray together so Democrats can learn how to compromise better. Coons is very committed to this idea. Get a load of this…

…And when I got back, I made a point of going up to several, relatively, new senators who I overlap with on a committee, an area of interest, an area of background, but where we don’t really know each other that well.

And I said, bluntly, I want to come get to know you. I want to come to your state. I want to come to your home. I welcome you to mine. I’d like to go to worship together. I’d like to give a speech together. I’d like to find a way to legislate together. Because if there aren’t people I can work with, there is really no point in my being here, first.

They need to eat their Republican Sandwiches and pray together. That’s the ticket!

That was from September 2018. Coons’ heroic GOP ass-kissing campaign has yet to bear any fruit.

Song of the Day 7/16: Hüsker Dü, “Makes No Sense At All”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on July 16, 2020 1 Comment

Our man-baby president punked the media yesterday by calling a news conference and instead vomiting forth a rally speech that was incomprehensible even for him. Hence this Bob Mould song, the first and only single from “Flip Your Wig,” the 1985 LP Mould considers the band’s best. He still sings this one today. The B-side […]

Trump to Parscale – You’re fired.

Brad Parscale, Trump’s campaign manager for his 2020 re-election campaign, is out. Trump announced Parscale’s firing after a series of sparsely-attended rallies and a dire national poll that puts him 15 points behind Democratic rival Joe Biden. Parscale, Trump’s longtime “website guy”, will be replaced by Bill Stepien. Stepien managed Chris Christie’s gubernatorial campaigns and […]

This is what I dislike the most about Coons

This is what I dislike the most about Coons

When your entire political philosophy is wrapped up on making friends with thieves and sociopaths. You don’t change the thieves and sociopaths. They change you.

I think you can, on balance, blame ONE SIDE for their tendency to kill hundreds of thousands of people and destroy the country every few years, but you can blame THE OTHER SIDE for letting bygones be bygones and helping to make people forget so they get to do it again.

Song of the Day 7/14: Paul Henreid and the cast of “Casablanca,” “La Marseillaise”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on July 14, 2020 5 Comments

It’s not just a great national anthem, it’s a great Nazi-fighting anthem. And Paul Henreid, forever to be known as “Casablanca” Nazi-fighter Victor Laszlo, was the right man to sing it — the Austrian was so ardently anti-Nazi he was declared an official enemy of the Third Reich. Born in Trieste and trained in Vienna, […]

U.S. passports are worthless – Americans will not be allowed to travel for five years

Filed in National by on July 14, 2020 0 Comments

“Americans have gone from having access to most of the world to being banned from most of it,” writes Indi Samarajiva for Medium Politics. “An American passport is now worthless.”

The world now looks at Americans as unhygienic, arrogant, willfully ignorant, science hating, magical thinking, untrustworthy, selfish rule-breakers.

The most reliable projections are saying 200,000 dead and 50 million infected by election day in November. Even these projections struggle to account for completely irrational federal actions like denigrating masks, pushing to reopen early, and pushing students back into schools. This is not the absence of public health, this is its opposite.

It is, in effect, governance by COVID-19. Not a failed state. A plague state.
Even after election day, Donald Trump will still be in power for nearly 3 months, until January 20th. Besides impeaching a dead-duck President, there’s nothing America can do but wait, while COVID-19 grows ever stronger. Grows completely out of control. In a pandemic, days matter, hours matter. A year is entirely too late.

America will be lucky to exit this pandemic with less than a million dead and 100 million infected. The living will be lucky to exit their country within the next five years.

Song of the Day 7/13: Willie Watson, “Dancing on My Own”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on July 13, 2020 0 Comments

Willie Watson, a founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show who went solo in 2011, has always concentrated on old-time music, so it’s not so surprising that his new-ish single, released three months ago, is a cover. What’s surprising is who he covered: Swedish disco chanteuse Robyn. “Dancing on My Own” was a top 10 […]
