Is it inevitable that greedy teachers, selfish game wardens and effete bus drivers will crush our state budget with their unreasonable demands to be paid a living wage? Perhaps not. An alternative would be to raise the state income tax on the wealthiest Delawareans by 2%. In a failed attempt to not sound like a strident hippy, I meekly hinted at this as a possible option during our recent meeting with Governor Markell.

I'm quite optimistic about this Wisconsin thing catching on. New Jersey and Ohio seem to be likely candidates.

There is a business case for better workplaces. As some guy once said, “Employee satisfaction is the only real, durable source of customer satisfaction.”

A number of Delaware's bloggers were invited to a Governor's Roundtable with Governor Markell this morning at his offices in Wilmington, so that the Governor can respond to recent progressive criticism and address his budget priorities. It was a very interesting discussion.
