The Story That Led To Alito’s ‘Pre-buttal’: In early July 2008, Samuel Alito stood on a riverbank in a remote corner of Alaska. The Supreme Court justice was on vacation at a luxury fishing lodge that charged more than $1,000 a day, and after catching a king salmon nearly the size of his leg, Alito […]

Song of the Day 6/22: Stray Cats, “Cat Fight (Over a Dog Like Me)”

Republicans always seem to stick together, if only because they’re the minority party in the U.S. so they’re doomed if they don’t. Give them a scrap of power, though, and they’ll fight over it like seagulls over a french fry. Case in point: The House of Representatives’ two reigning divas, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren […]

Another Day, Another Corrupt Real Estate Deal Which Will Allow the Omanis & Saudis to Transfer Hundreds of Millions into Trump Bank Accounts

I’m beginning to get the feeling that Republicans really don’t care that Trump is fully owned by foreign  governments.

The “show me the money!” generation

The “show me the money!” generation

I’m so old that I remember when judges were not in it for the big bucks. They were intellectually aloof, like college professors happily ensconced in their academic villages.  They were at ease with a life of the mind. The gentile poverty that comes with valuing ideas over bottles of rare wine was not considered […]

Song of the Day 6/21: Fountains of Wayne, “Sink to the Bottom”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on June 21, 2023 0 Comments

I’ve detected a distinct lack of sympathy for the well-heeled victims of the OceanGate disaster (pro tip: never use the word “gate” in your name), so what the fuck, I can be as flip about it as the next guy. “Sink to the Bottom” was included on Fountains of Wayne’s eponymous debut LP in 1996. […]

DELAWARE CALL REPORTS – United Food and Commercial Workers Local 27 get “95%” of demands

Strikes (and threats of strikes) work.

Kentmere Workers Secure New Contract

On Friday, workers represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 27 at Kentmere Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Wilmington voted unanimously to ratify a new contract. Notching a victory not only for themselves, but providing an example for workers across the region that collective action can garner positive results.

Two weeks of informational pickets in April organized by workers and UFCW 27 representatives, along with a rally on Kentmere Parkway, coaxed management to the negotiating table and last week workers approved the newly negotiated terms.

1) Fuck Hunter Biden. That said – for Republicans everything is always about presidential electoral politics and nothing is ever about policy.

Since they are widely hated for their policies (and because they are awful), they have to make their opponent MORE awful in the eyes of low info voters.

That was easy with Hillary Clinton. It was harder to do with Biden, but the project NEVER stops. It is relentless and bottomless.

2) “Sweetheart deal”. That’s what the DOJ kept trying to give to Trump. When Merrick Garland’s made the decision to not investigate Trump for trying to overthrow the government because Republicans might get mad – that was a pretty fucking sweet deal.

A Washington Post investigation found that more than a year would pass before prosecutors and FBI agents jointly embarked on a formal probe of actions directed from the White House to try to steal the election. Even then, the FBI stopped short of identifying the former president as a focus of that investigation.

Song of the Day 6/20: A.L. Phipps and the Phipps Family, “The Great Titanic”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, International by on June 20, 2023 8 Comments

Five people have been lost descending to the wreck of the Titanic in a small submersible craft. A frantic search for them is underway, but unless the story gets a miracle ending, it seems the “unsinkable” ship is still claiming lives. The mythic element of the sinking of the Titanic seems to have dissipated in […]

BREAKING: Hunter Biden To Plead Guilty–Get Probation

Filed in National by on June 20, 2023 7 Comments

From the Washington Post: President Biden’s son Hunter has reached a tentative agreement with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to two minor tax crimes and admit to the facts of a gun charge under terms that would likely keep him out of jail, according to court papers filed Tuesday. Any proposed plea deal would have […]

Can there really be only six more session days with Pistol Pete as Slavemaster?  We may, or may not, find out in six more session days.   He and Our PAL Val have turned the House into something not unlike Hungary.  For the record, I doubt that he’ll follow through on his pledge to the Majority […]

Unhinged Hateful Rhetoric Works!  Especially  when you have centrist dipshits taking up your bogus talking points.  A majority of Republicans now say same-sex relations are immoral after a year of ‘groomer’ attacks on the LGBTQ community Only 41% of Republicans say gay or lesbian relations are morally acceptable, according to Gallup. That is a 15% […]

Democrats, once again, catch their dick in their zipper by trying to not catch their dick in their zipper
