Are Tizzy Lockman and Bryan Townsend Sellouts?

Delaware most valuable progressive & REV take up that question in this week’s Highlands Bunker.  Also, what about WFP endorsed people who voted for Pete to be speaker?  Sellouts?  Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?     The Stomberg knows.

It’s just Karl and Rob in the bunker today as they talk about Karl’s new piece on why legislators sell out and how we can fix it.

Song of the Day 5/12: Bob Marley, “Could You Be Loved (demo)”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on May 12, 2023 1 Comment

Before Bob Marley recorded this song with the Wailers for his last LP, “Uprising,” he recorded a series of demos, experimenting with its key and tempo. Some of them sound better than the more slickly produced original. This early version, played to a beat box, is a little faster and in a higher key than […]

First, a Very Special Crossover from yesterday’s Post-Game Wrap-up/Pre-game Show.  The LLC’s And Corporations In Seaford Are People bill was not worked.   Which doesn’t mean it’s dead.  Four reps were absent yesterday (there have been quite a few absences this week), so maybe there weren’t enough yes votes to meet the 2/3rds requirement for the […]

A Clockwork Trumpage

@paulwaldman1 1. One thing last night made clear is that not only doesn’t “fact-checking in real time” work on Trump, it’s actually JUST WHAT HE WANTS. Allow me to explain… 2. When he says “The election was rigged” or “I did complete the wall,” gets corrected and then says the lie again, steamrolling over the […]

Song of the Day 5/11: Imagine Dragons, “Crushed”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on May 11, 2023 4 Comments

Imagine Dragons, in case you don’t keep up with such things, is about as corporate as rock bands get these days, selling out arenas with a generic sound that has earned them as much scorn today as Nickelback and Creed did in theirs. So I don’t know whether it’s a surprise or not that they’ve […]

General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thursday, May 11, 2023

Will The House Of Representatives vote to recognize LLC’s, corporations, and trusts as people?  We will likely find out today.  The House Administration Committee (all five members of leadership) voted to release  HB 121(D. Short) to the floor and it has been placed on today’s House Agenda.  The bill, which is a Charter change for […]

DelawareLiberal Style Guide VOL 1

Filed in National by on May 11, 2023 2 Comments

I’m starting a list of preferred uses.  Free free to add to the list with your favorites.

Socialized Medicine:

Use “socialized medicine” in place of medicare/medicaid.     Eg. I can’t wait until I qualify for socialized medicine.   My mother in law loves her socialized medicine.    The Governor wants to take away the socialized medicine that state pensioners paid into and were promised with a fraudulent, expensive,  substitute.    (see below)

Disgusting:

Whenever using the name “trump” also try to use the word “disgusting” in the same sentence.   It sounds a little trite, but this really pushes the MAGATs buttons.   Polling confirms that they have strong reactions to disgust and disgusting.  Eg.  A disgusting blob, Trump slumped visibly in his chair.  & Even his ardent supporters view Trump as disgusting.

Song of the Day 5/10: Bill Withers, “Lovely Day”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on May 10, 2023 0 Comments

Been waiting for months for a day like this, and I don’t mean just the weather. This 1977 smooth soul classic was Bill Withers’ last Top 40 solo single. Though it only reached No. 30 on the Hot 100, it scored much better on the R&B chart (No. 6) and marked Withers’ first appearance in […]

It’s official: Eric Buckson is the wannabe leader of the Rethuglican Party.  Either that, or he just can’t get enough of his own stentorian stylings. Or both.  It’s like he’s channeling John Wilkes Booth who, lest we forget, was an AC-tor.  A self-important strutting peacock.  Yesterday, he voted against the so-called Consent Agenda in the […]

The DEGOP tries to cover its tracks by deleting its School Board endorsements page. https://delawaregop.com/school-board-candidates/ I should have taken a screenshot of that page when I first saw it.  Anyway, here is the Town Square article from April 22nd discussing the DEGOP brazen partisan efforts in these non-partisan elections. Conservatives marshal forces as school board […]

Re Jose Matthews, but true all over. Steve Newton “comfortable enough margin” true … for today … but I can still remember the days when Jose’s vote total exceeded the standard total for two candidates in a close race. Celebrate, but realize they are mobilizing as fast as they can, and will undoubtedly learn from their […]
