Song of the Day 10/14: Curtis Mayfield, “(Don’t Worry) If There’s a Hell Below, We’re All Going to Go”
When Curtis Mayfield left his group for a solo career in 1970, most people were expecting his solo LP “Curtis” to feature the sort of melodic, uplifting soul music that the Impressions had made their trademark. It did — “Move On Up,” one of Mayfield’s greatest songs, kicked off the LP’s second side and served […]
Flat out lying to get on the Supreme Court
I get having to be evasive and all that shit – but flat out lying for a seat on the court seems like something someone with decent morals and a sense of dignity wouldn’t do.
Asked by Kamala Harris if she were aware — before she got the nomination — of Trump’s vows to choose a Supreme Court nominee who would strike down the ACA, Amy Coney Barrett said: “I don’t recall seeing or hearing those statements.”
I mean, unless you want unscrupulous liars on the court. then it makes sense.

White House COVID Policy: Reach Herd Immunity. This, along with the President’s insatiable ego, explains the mask-free super-spreader events. Don’t believe me?: A senior administration official told reporters in a background briefing call Monday that the proposed strategy — which has been denounced by other infectious-disease experts and has been called “fringe” and “dangerous” by […]
Delaware Democratic Party: Chris Kenny Singlehandedly Trying To Prop Up Three Rethug State Senators
From The Delaware Democratic Party: Finance Reports tell a clear story: Anti-worker dark money is trying to buy a Republican State Senate Chris Kenny is single-handedly trying to buy the Delaware State Senate for Republicans, and recently filed campaign finance reports make it crystal clear. In total, Kenny has contributed nearly $500,000 to three GOP-aligned […]
Song of the Day 10/13: Richard Thompson, “Persuasion”
Despite a 50-plus-year career filled with more high points than the landscape of Nepal, Richard Thompson remains what John Peel called him early in his career, “the best-kept secret in the world of music.” He’s equally adept on both acoustic and electric guitar, and his melodic compositions, whether pure folk or folk-rock, tap into emotions […]
Sallies Sues DIAA: ‘Save Us From Ourselves’
This is rich. Salesianum’s reputation has long started and ended with football. They have viewed Delaware football, especially public school football, with haughty disdain. Accordingly, they have larded their schedule with out-of-state private school teams, and have only played enough Delaware teams to maintain their eligibility for state tourneys. Well, now they’re in a bind. […]

Settlement Reached To Provide More Equity In Delaware School Funding. The agreement relies on legislative approval, which will be more likely with the progressive newcomers. This does not end the lawsuit for a statewide reassessment: A separate track of this lawsuit, involving property reassessment in all three counties, is ongoing. That track saw victory in […]
Song of the Day 10/12: Walter Becker, “Book of Liars”
This is one of the “11 Tracks of Whack” that constituted the first solo album from Walter Becker, half of Steely Dan, in 1994. It’s a good example of why Dan fans thought he should have sung once in a while on the band’s LPs. When Steely Dan regrouped in the ’90s, “Book of Liars” […]

Trump Has Yet Another Stimulus Proposal. Inoperative in, say, 20 minutes. Of all his botches, his U-turns on a stimulus package are near the top of the list. ‘We Now Affectionately Call Her Judge Dogma’. Amy Coney Barrett sets off all the dogma whistles. Member of a bizarre cult about to be elevated to the […]
In Her Own Words: Cathy Cloutier Reveals Herself As A Liar And An NRA Shill
Because she comes across as a ‘nice lady’, Cathy Cloutier’s penchant for lying has often been overlooked. She has now hung herself with her own words. To (half-) wit: I’m not the reason the Democrats in the majority did not pass a ban on assault weapons. *I never blocked the Assault Weapons bills. *Democrats stopped […]

Here’s Why D’s Should Pack The Courts. Inspirational Quote: The Republicans have discovered that shamelessness is their superpower and they are unafraid to deploy it to force their ideology on the entire country. Democrats can no longer afford to stand by and let it happen out of an antediluvian adherence to “norms” that only they […]
Democrats still outnumber Republicans, but registration trends favor GOP
I googled up some voter registration stories to make myself feel better about the next 23 days. It didn’t work. The Trump campaign and RNC have now registered 100,000 new voters in the 2020 cycle, more than doubling their numbers from 2016, according to new Trump Victory data provided exclusively to Axios.
