Open Thread – Trend to Democratic Partisanship WAAAAAY Overdue

For the ENTIRE time I've been blogging I've been saying that the Democrats approach to elections needed to be more "base turnout" oriented. In the past few years I've seen some positive changes in the Delaware electorate and now we only have some holdouts like Coons and Carney who still think that Republicans want to "cooperate" and come to "consensus" in the name of "good government." Complete bullshit, or course and bullshit that is increasing being called bullshit by Democratic voters. Last year PEW Research study showed that Democrats were finally catching up with Republicans with regard to sticking together and not bringing flowers to partisan fistfights (see below). So anyway...in thinking about today's poll question, I wonder if Trump is just speeding up a process that was already underway. We already know that the Democratic Party primary is THE election for statewide offices. If Simpler loses that clinches it. If it is a trend, Ramone, Lavelle, and every other Republican in New Castle County will be gone this election or next. It is well overdue and if you hear any Democrat like Carney or Coons claiming that Republicans are "trusted partners" please keep the momentum going by shouting down that bullshit.

Simpler & DE GOP continue shameful silence on politically motivated violence

This is the GOP we are up against in Delaware. Instead of a clear statement denouncing political violence spurred by Donald Trump's inflammatory racist rhetoric - we get shameful silence from DEGOP leader Ken Simpler. Well, not complete silence. Like Trump, Simpler kept campaigning, so at least there is this:

A Fun Filled DAY !!!

Trump Voter Kills 11 in Pittsburgh Synagogue

The media is falling all over itself to spread the GOP spin that Robert Bowers is not a Trump supporter. At some point Bowers felt Trump wasn't violent and anti-semitic enough for him, so he stopped supporting him. But make no mistake - Trump's message of hatred and division is at the center of this. Trump radicalized Bowers and hundreds of other like who now feel that their racial grievances have been legitimized.
Federal prosecutors have filed hate crime charges against a Pennsylvania man who authorities say stormed a Pittsburgh synagogue and opened fire, killing 11 people. Robert Bowers, 46, of suburban Baldwin, surrendered to authorities after Saturday morning's shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue. It's believed he made anti-Semitic statements during the shooting and targeted Jews in posts on social media that are a focus of the investigation, according to a federal law enforcement official.

Delaware GOP Silence on Political Violence is Deafening

As the highest ranking elected Republican official, Ken Simpler is the de facto leader of the Republican Party in Delaware. Simpler has a responsibility to Delaware that he is trying to avoid. His inability to address the Republican Party's problem with politically motivated violence reveals Simpler to be a contemptible low-life. His continuing silence is nothing but cowardice. Ken Simpler is so fearful of the the Delaware Republican base that he is utterly mute and pitifully retiring at a moment in history that calls for courage and moral clarity. He really is a disgusting piece of shit.

No “Nexus”

In New York, officials from the Police Department said there was no “nexus” between the shooting in Pittsburgh and New York City but that they were taking precautionary measures until more is known about the shooting.
