...I thought of Ken Simpler's Simple plan. The one for the state government to act as a kind of federal reserve bank, letting money out into the world to keep the economy from getting too cold or too hot. As Alby observed, that idea is DOA being illegal. However, what if the point wasn't the idea but the tone? What if Simpler is auditioning to be the next acceptable Republican? ...a GOP candidate acceptable to Tom Carper and Chris Coons?

When I lived in DC and people talked about "statehood" I'd always put in a plug for "provicehood." It seems my idea is catching on.

Last month I received as a birthday gift the Collected Essays, Journalism and Letters of George Orwell, first edition in four volumes.  I reacted like little kid under the Christmas tree.  It’s incredibly satisfying when people close to you know you well enough to give the perfect gift.  Something's functioning properly.  Feels good.

The meeting invitation promises participants that their participation in the Regs writing process will shrouded in secrecy and cloaked in confidentiality.
