Contemptible Congress

Filed in National by on June 20, 2012 1 Comment

When I was a wee lad, I had the utmost respect for Congress. I was in awe of my then Congressman, Byron Rodgers (D-Denver) who was the essence of a public servant. I was good friends with Congresswoman Pat Schroeder and Congressman & Senator Tim Wirth (who was a neighbor). That all changed after I moved to DC and began working for the government. I discovered that many of the 539 Members of Congress (including the delegates from DC, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands) didn’t really give a damn about their constituents. It was all about getting face time on TV to make it seem as though they were doing something.

This afternoon, Rep. Darrell Issa, chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, pushed through a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in “Contempt of Congress.” Better add my name to that resolution, Issa, because I hold you and the Teabag 112th Congress in the utmost contempt. Obstruction is the motto of this Congress.

Rep Keith Ellison Breaks Down in King’s Witchhunt Hearings

Filed in National by on March 10, 2011 18 Comments

Rep. Keith Ellison is the only Muslim member of Congress.  Today he spoke before Peter King’s hearings about radicalized Islam in America.  This is the conclusion of his remarks, he tells a moving story of a Muslim-American being posthumously demonized. I find it inconsistent that Muslims are oversensitive when leaders paint them and their […]

John Shadegg Shouldn’t Drink and Talk

Filed in National by on December 1, 2010 5 Comments

I saw Rep. John Shadegg(R-AZ) on Morning Joe on Tuesday morning.  He made a complete fool of himself. First, he says (and then doubles down), on his belief that unemployed people save their money, rather than spending it.  Then he can’t get the gumption to criticize Sarah Palin as he evades  a direct question over […]

Steve Cohen is running for reelection as a Tennessee Representative, in Harold Ford’s old seat.  He won in 2008, in part due to the endorsement of Barack Obama.  Race is an issue in this district, and Cohen is facing an African-American former Memphis mayor.  In this painful video, some of his supporters have composed a […]
