Wilmington Mayoral Debates at Ezion Fair

Wilmington Mayoral Debates at Ezion Fair

Last night was another big Mayoral debate, this one including the newly announced (but not filed) Maria Cabrera and finally showing up Dennis Williams. This debate was sponsored by the Complexities of Color Coalition, the Metropolitan Urban League Young Professionals, Interdenominational Ministers Action Council, Delaware Young Democrats Minority Caucus and Delaware Black and held at Ezion Fair church in Southbridge. This was really well attended and the audience was definitely there to be engaged. The NJ provides a bunch of the highlights of the evening, but I want to focus on some campaign themes emerging and a different cattle call at the end.
We Have Debate Watch Parties!

We Have Debate Watch Parties!

Tonite is the debate between Hillary and Bernie in New York. There are a couple of local debate watch parties that I know of listed below. The operative phrase here is "that I know of". If you are aware of others, please post the details in the comments and one of us will get the information in the main post. So here we go:
The Republican Debate – Heaven Help Us

The Republican Debate – Heaven Help Us

I'm not even sure what to say. When you don't have one substantive candidate there will be no substantive discussion? Know why none of them can call out the others plans for health care, the economy, etc.? Because all of their plans are nonsense. That is the #1 reason none of them can take Trump out. In order to attack his policies, which amount to "It's (fill in whatever position/plan you want) going to be great!", they'd have to defend and explain their own policies. Watch the segment on health care last night. Not one of them had a policy. Not one. Mr. Pandora and I were stunned by the end of the "debate" last night. If Dems need something to rally behind, here it is.
Debate Night!

Debate Night!

There's a debate for Attorney General Candidates (I don't know if this includes all of the ballot-qualified candidates) at Widener tonight, starting at 6pm, conducted by WDEL. You can listen on WDEL or go over to Widener to see it in person. Delaware Public Media and the University of Delaware Center for Political Communication sponsor debates with the major party candidates for U.S. House and U.S. Senate tonight at Mitchell Hall. This website provides the times (House starts at 7 and the Senate starts at 8), and there are rules for the debates there as well. Not sure if you can still attend in person, but that is likely there at the website. You can also watch a live stream (I think!) of the House and Senate debate.

Debates at the University of Delaware

This series of debates is sponsored by UD and Delaware First Media. This is a separate set of debates from the WHYY/WDEL events, but another great opportunity to see these candidates up close and personal. These are being held at Mitchell Hall on the UD Newark campus. Both start at 7pm.

Wilmington Mayor Debate — WHYY Event

WHYY hosted their debate featuring the Democratic primary contenders for Wilmington Mayor Tuesday night (8/14) at U of D. This debate was the culmination of a process where WHYY hosted multiple forums around the city to get input from people in the city as to what questions they would specifically want candidates to address. The actual debate was about an hour long, maybe a little more because of some technical glitch at the beginning. The venue was maybe 60% full, with little pockets of each candidate's partisans.

Insurance Commissioner Debate Tomorrow!

The first (I think!) Insurance Commissioner Candidate Forum will be held this Monday among the current officially filed Democratic candidates for the office: Insurance Commissioner Candidate Forum Monday March 26th, 2012 7:00 pm Marbrook Elementary School 2101 Centerville Road Wilmington, DE
