Delaware: International Tax Haven
Delaware has been named the most secretive financial jurisdiction, even more secretive than Switzerland. I guess some day we’ll be talking about Delaware bank accounts: The United States, led by the eastern seaboard state, took in $2.6 trillion in deposits from non-resident corporations and individuals in 2007, according to a survey of financial jurisdictions analyzed […]

Congratulations All Around for Fisker
The press conference/Pep rally for the announcement that the Boxwood Rd. auto plant has just concluded. We will now refer to the plant as the Fisker plant. I am still in a state of shock. It was a tour de force of Delaware politicos. Huge kudos are in order for Governor Markell for his attention to this issue and for putting together this event. Getting Joe Biden was the perfect touch.
The 3% Quandry
According to The News Journal, the state of Delaware has been allocated some 520,000 vaccines, but as of October 23, the Blue Hen state has only been shipped 15,700 vaccines — 3 percent of our allocation. The number of vaccines Delaware has been shipped is “less than Wyoming or Washington, D.C., whose populations are less […]

95 and 495: High-Speed Death Traps?
It seems as though once every two weeks, or maybe even, once every a week, I-95 and/or I-495 come to a screeching halt due to accidents cause by high-speed or inattentive driver. Now, I haven’t gone out and gotten any statistics on this, but from my experience driving on 95 and 495, the State Police […]

Breaking: Delaware Legislative Travel
Update: The News Journal published Ginger Gibson’s article today, “Legislator’ travel tabs often missing”. State lawmakers can travel when and where they want on the taxpayer’s tab. snip Getting into a jet at taxpayers’ expense isn’t difficult in either chamber. In fact, no one interviewed for this article could recall a time when a travel […]
The O’Donnell Challenge
I do not speak of Christine O’Donnell’s challenge to Mike Castle in the Republican Senate Primary, which by the way, she is not giving up on. I speak of the challenge her candidacy presents for our rather rabid friends on the right who view Castle as far too liberal to be in “their” Republican Party. […]
