Perry = Pander Bear

Rick Perry is scared that he’s going to be nothing more than an asterisk in the race for the Rethuglican-Confederate-Teabagger party nomination for President. So much so that he’s now pandering to the extreme right wing for votes in Iowa. He is running the following gay-baiting ad on TV out there. Click through….

Remembering Matthew Shepard

Remembering Matthew Shepard

Thirteen years ago tonight, Matthew Shepard died from a beating at the hands of two homophobes. Although both were convicted and faced the death penalty, it was through the grace of Judy and Dennis Shepard that their lives were spared. Matthew was targeted for this beating because he was gay. He was taken to a desolate spot outside of Laramie, Wyoming, tortured and beaten, and left for dead. When his body was discovered, the person finding him thought he was looking at a scarecrow.

On October 28, 2009, President Obama signed into law the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Hate Crimes Act, in memory of two victims of hate crimes that were murdered in 1998. For those who think the we’ve come a long way since Matthew’s death, you’re wrong. Hate crimes against gays, lesbians, and transgender individuals continue to rise, especially in major metropolitan areas. Just last month, a DC police officers was arrested for assaulting a transgender woman. We must never forget Matthew Shepard, James Byrd, and the hundreds of other victims of hate crimes that have been murdered. Never Again!!!

Oh how I love it when anti-gay Rethuglicans get caught with their pants down. Well, he didn’t exactly get caught with his pants down, but he did squeeze the Charmin.

Can Frau Bachmann Take the Heat?

Filed in National by on July 14, 2011 1 Comment

It always happens when you become the frontrunner. The glare of probing reporters questions and looking into your background and past statements has a way of coming back to bite you in the ass. And now it appears that it’s Frau Bachmann’s turn in the hot seat. A former patient who sought help from the […]

No Promo Homo in Tennessee – Updated

Filed in National by on May 22, 2011 9 Comments

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the “No Say Gay” bill wending it’s way through the Tennessee legislature. Well, George Takei, better known to those of us of a certain age as Mr. Sulu from the original Star Trek series, is taking on the homophobes and giving people a way around the bill, if it should become law.

The Tennessee legislature is considering a bill that will prohibit teachers from discussing any sexuality except heterosexuality for kids in grades K-8. Crossing the Line (Again)

Filed in Delaware by on April 15, 2011 43 Comments

It didn’t take long for some of our less informed denizens of Sussex County to blow a gasket over the passage of SB 30. Today, the Fatman over at WGMD was spitting nails. He adamant that SB 30 was “a gay marriage bill, let’s not fool ourselves. We need to call it what it is.” […]

Time for Pat Robertson to Hang it Up

Filed in National by on January 25, 2011 4 Comments

I know that Pat Robertson hates the gays. He’s been on us for decades, blaming us for earthquakes, hurricanes, forest fires, and 9/11. Personally, me thinks he dost protest too much (you know what they say about closet cases – the ones who yell the loudest about the gays are the ones with the most […]

Pre-Chanukah Asshats of the Day

Filed in National by on November 30, 2010 5 Comments

So I’m sitting here chilling to some Celia Cruz (Azucar!) and thought, hey, I haven’t honored anyone lately with an asshat award. And today we have two winners. Our first winner is Eugene Delgaudio, a Republican representing Sterling on the Loudoun County (VA) Board of Supervisors. I think we all read about Pandora’s experience with […]

Wednesday’s Asshat of the Day

Filed in National by on November 17, 2010 14 Comments

I’ve been away on special assignment (actually, just been busy putting together my agency’s annual financial report to Congress), but Asshat returns. Like mother, like daughter, today’s winner is a bit of a loose canon, especially with her mouth. It seems that Willow Palin was upset that some stranger on Facebook dissed her mama’s show […]

Thursday’s Asshat of the Day

Filed in National by on October 28, 2010 8 Comments

Asshat doesn’t even begin to describe today’s winner. Bully, homophobe, f-tard come to mind. Today’s winner is Clint McCance, who’s a member of the Midland, Arkansas board of education. McCance had a problem with Spirit Day last week. Spirit Day was a day for people to wear purple to show solidarity with gay and lesbian […]
