Late Night Video — Argentinian Sports Channel Trolls Donald Trump

Oh yes, this is completely brilliant. The Copa America Centenario is a major soccer event — this year is its 100th anniversary and this is the first time it is being hosted by the United States. So this Argentinian sports channel decided to make use of Trump’s xenophobic and racist BS to showcase the skills of their team — especially Lionel Messi.

The endtitle in Spanish says, “Honestly, the best thing they could do, is not let us in.”

Something tells me that our neighbors south of the border are going to have a field day with Trump.

Late Night Video — NYPD #PMS

This is Bill Maher hilariously commenting on the NYPD snit over accountability:

Late Night Video — Jon Stewart Crushes Fox News, Again

This is a thing of beauty and a reminder that there is no news at Fox News:

In particular, accusing the President of “not respecting the troops” (whatever that means), one of Fox’s own disrepects the work of an ally — a female pilot from the UAE who lead their team in a bombing run. Eric Bolling, reacting to the news that a female fighter pilot was in the fight wanted to know if that counted as boobs on the ground. Right? Getting past the outright sexism, there was no respect for someone doing the work he wasn’t going to do, for someone who was part of the work of turning back the boogyman that they spent the other 23 hours of their news cycle fearmongering over.

Late Night Video — The List of Rules for Women

The incomparable Jay Smooth works in this new video (about 2 and a half minutes long) at trying to round up the current set of rules for women so that women can get their humanity respected. After trying to grapple with the ever changing rules that (mostly) men prescribe for women to be able to make their way unassaulted in the world for awhile, he does note that it might be easier to provide a list for men:”Hello, Asshole. Women are human beings.” BAM! Still, let the mansplaining begin.

Late Night Video — Robin Williams, RIP

I’m really stunned at this evening’s news that Robin Williams died today, apparently of suicide. Many years ago I saw him in a Kansas City club — the second show. He was on a tear, and the audience was falling off of their chairs laughing. By the time they got to the club’s closing time, Williams had a ton of energy and the audience was game to stay — so the owner closed the club, charged people $5 or something (so he could claim it was a private club since he was keeping the bar open) and Williams went on for at least two hours more. And it was really interactive too — not only was he conversing with patrons (and then riffing off of the conversations), but he took suggestions for routines. Mostly from Shakespeare. It was utterly hysterical and really smart — you could tell that he knew the work he was riffing off of. I can’t imagine what he has been experiencing, but I know depression can be brutal. Even if you are someone that the world loved so very much.

Late Night Video — Stephen Colbert Breaks Down the Fake Compassion of Conservatives For You

This is, of course, a dissection of the compassion theater being acted out by conservatives before they call for completely not compassionate treatment of the kids coming to our border. These people need to revisit the well-loved piece of Emma Lazarus’ poem inscribed on a plaque at the Statue of Liberty:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Because there aren’t many of them who came here with the correct visas, either.

Late Night Video — Bill Maher Shooting the Zombie Lies in the Head

Zombie Lies. Perfect description of the perpetual GOP talking points — the ones they keep repeating even though they’ve been definitively proven to be a lie. But those lies/talking points never go away and the usual GOP suspects can pick up where they were 6 years ago, get in front of a TV camera and it is as though the past 6 years never happened. The lies keep coming back as do the liars that tell them. Maher here wants to know why they can keep saying them over and over again — my opinion is that the journalists who will tell you that their job is holding people accountable are also telling you a Zombie Lie. Bill Maher and his New Rules:

Late Night Video — “I’m the Guy Doin’ My Job, You Must Be the Other Guy!”

This is President Obama earlier today in Texas talking about the complete uselessness of GOP obstruction (and lawsuits). I like him when he’s not really worried about reaching out to the GOP, and yet he always does. This is definitely dripping in well-deserved ridicule for the GOP and their no-show job ways, but he still invites them to work with him. Still — I REALLY wish that there was more of this from Democrats across the board. The GOP is absolutely vulnerable on the do-nothing charge and that should be part of the narrative from now until election day:
