Write A Wind Power Letter To The Editor

Filed in National by on April 23, 2008

The News Journal is stonewalling the Harris McDowell story and people have asked me what we might do to get them off the dime.

Writing a letter to the editor is a good place to start. They probably will not print it but if they get a bunch of letters asking about McDowell’s corrupt schemes to create lucrative job for himself while killing the Blue Water Wind project – they might be decide to devote a few column inches to mentioning it.

Draft a letter off line and use this link to send it off.

Here are some things to keep in mind.

General

They like letters that refer to prior NJ stories. Like this one from April 11th
in which
they report “The House solidly approved a resolution Thursday demanding approval of a 150-turbine offshore wind park east of Rehoboth Beach.”

Wind Power
Operation of the proposed offshore wind farm would provide jobs for Delawareans and make Delaware a leader in a new industry at a time when manufacturing jobs are disappearing.

Construction of the proposed offshore wind power facility would make a significant contribution to a reduction in greenhouse gas and toxic pollution emissions.

The citizens of Delaware have offered thousands of comments and letters in favor of the proposed wind power facility.

Approval of the Power Purchase Agreement would endow Delmarva Power’s customers with protection against future price increases and price volatility due to the rising cost of electricity produced from fossil fuels.

McDowell

All of McDowell’s actions since the Blue Water Wind project was accepted by the PSC have been to block the project.

McDowell and Delmarva Power have worked together to kill the wind project.

McDowell hired a lawyer to help block the project.

McDowell’s prior “Green Energy” bill which claimed to advance “conservation” (SB 235) was vetoed because it misappropriated money from the state and attempted to funnel it to McDowell clients.

I suggest we send our letters to the Dover Post , Delaware State News and Community News! We would probably get more action there. The Delaware Public (Corporate) Policy Insitute, John Taylor et al, will not back any citizen issue. But both the other papers will publish….
