NBC keeps cutting to loving shots of Bush
…otherwise the Olympics have been pretty good.
Of course, I still have my usual “grumpy old man” gripes about how beach volleyball is not a real sport (what next… dodge ball?) and the dearth of modern pentathlon coverage and the fact that professional basketball players are allowed to play, but all and all – so far so good.
RE Bush: He seems affable enough and the camera loves the guy. If he hadn’t let terrorists attack us on 9/11 and then launched a war against a random country by lying about their ability to bomb us with nukes without planning for the occupation and hadn’t wrecked the economy through gross mismanagement hadn’t lavished corporate welfare on his pals in big oil, and hadn’t trashed the constitution and hadn’t turned the country into armed ideological camps – then he might have been an okay placeholder president.
I see we’re rested and ready to go! 😉
I love that you’re a grumpy old man. Go, cancer!!!
I was actually surprised at how well spoken he was live at the Olympics. I kept waiting for him to say something incredibly stupid and it didn’t come.
Curious though, why is it you think he’s “turned the country into armed ideological camps?”
And what’s wrong with them showing shots of Bush at the Olympics? He IS still our President.
Do you read any of your comments prior to hitting the “submit” button?
Yes. If you’d like to take issue with my comment then have at it.
No.
I just don’t know where I could have gotten the silly notion that Bush turned this country into armed ideological camps?
Even when I think about the fact that the term “armed ideological camps” might be a metaphor I just don’t know why I would think that.
Jason
You keep forgetting that Mikie is just a child.
Jason – The country wasn’t divided along ideological lines before Bush?
TT seems to forget how to debate or contribute substantive commentary, thus all he can do is call me “Mikie” and harp on and on about my age. It’s pitiful.
Of course we were, Mike. Bush, however, compounded that exponentially.
Would you rather have our prez enjoying himself in a human rights dismissing country or back home dealing with Russia’s invasion of Georgia? Remember, he looked Putin in the eyes and found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy.
Joe – When has a U.S. President not gone to the Olympics? If he didn’t go you guys would be jumping all over him for it. Also, he’s at the end of his term and has the opportunity to enjoy hanging out at the Olympics. Who would turn down an opportunity like that?
I remember when he said that about Putin and my 1st thought was “Well that’s gonna backfire on him sooner or later.”
No sitting US president has EVER gone to a foriegn Olympics asshat! Educate yourself before you come at me.
Oh my…
It’s working pandora….
Well if you say things based on assumptions you’re bound to say something stupid eventually. I’m certainly not immune to that.
And DTB – what’s working? You and Pandora are the posterchildren for making broad, unsubstantiated assumptions and saying things that are entirely illogical & irrational. That, and you won’t back up what you say nor admit that you’re wrong.
Bush did speak with Putin regarding the Georgia conflict while in China, so it’s not like he just ignored his Presidential responsibilities to watch the games.
Yeah right. He does all that he can to serve. If Russia had was pulling the plug on Terry Schiavo he would have been there in a flash.
“if he hadn’t let terrorists attack us on 9/11…”
Riiiiight.
