What a wild and woolly weekend that ended with a Fox News genius citing Nixon’s “If the President does it, then it isn’t a crime” as if it was case law.

Here is a recap of the highlights courtesy of Jack Battiste:

“Trump never took any classified information, the FBI planted evidence. But also, Trump de-classified that evidence (that he never took) But also, it’s not a big deal if he did take it because only one box was classified (I mean de-classified) But also, even if he did have multiple boxes of classified (I mean de-classified) he didn’t pack those boxes himself. And even if he did pack all those boxes they were just paper copies so they wouldn’t be easy for foreign actors to steal. But also Barak Obama took 30 million documents. But also Hillary Clinton. But also Hunter Biden. But also Jeffery Epstein.”

All of the distraction, whataboutism, and misinformation, isn’t accidental. “The Democrats don’t matter, the real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.” — Steve Bannon.

It isn’t a mystery and yet the media continues to play along.  They must be getting something out of the deal, but what?  Oh yeah, money.

Great idea, except I don’t care for Opera.

Opera Delaware is taking the show on the road, thanks to a new mobile stage.

“We want to feature our artists in a way that people can really appreciate the grandeur of what they would do in an opera house, but they can appreciate it in the intimacy of this fun setting,” Kerriann Otaño told WDEL News.

The custom-built trailer includes a 14-foot stage, stage lighting, and even a climate-controlled “green room.”

Otaño said it will allow them to take performance out of the opera house and to community groups, festivals and block parties.

“The incredible thing about the mobility and the availability of having this truck with us all the time now is that it really opens up all of Wilmington to be our stage, and really allows us to connect with people more freely – which is really what art is all about,” Otaño said.

I forgot this one. Just when you think Ted Cruz is going to be eclipsed as the nations creepiest a-hole, he always finds another gear.

In Nevada moments ago, Ted Cruz joked to applause and laughter that Elizabeth Warren might have a penis: “In today’s Democrat Party, how do we know she doesn’t?”

Also – in every “America Reacts to Trump Raid” why is it that the only people the TV news show reacting are Trump cult members?

Why aren’t the majority of Americans who want Trump in jail ever asked how they feel?

And why doesn’t the media point out that these people and their opinions are so stupid that they donate money to a guy who claims to be a billionaire? A little context would make clear that their opinions are shit because they have shit for brains.

Speaking of media malfeasance, why do they care what Andrew Yang thinks about anything? The self-promoting little twerp got no traction running for president, no traction running for mayor of New York, and recently he announced — with lots of free publicity from pundits desperate for copy — that he’s forming a “centrist” (corporatist) third party with long-past-her-sell-by-date Republican Christine Todd Whitman.

Reading the room is not something Andrew Yang knows how to do, so when the raid on Mar a Lardo went down, he attacked Merrick Garland for a “political” act.

So he’s got no following and he’s got demonstrably terrible judgment. So please, media, can we ignore this assclown now?

The Daily Mail did the impossible and made me feel sorry for that guy. They weren’t going for that, but just recounting the details of his sad-sack, drug addicted life made me feel like he was just so much grist churned in the soulless mill of late stage capitalism.

So Sussex County Council has 2 right wing republican slogan nuts running in district 5 and the Democrats can’t even field a candidate. How sad for everyone who lives here and loves the coastal area.

It isn’t easy to find people to run in winnable races. Forget about the tilting at windmill races.

On a lighter note hope to get out and see Opera Delaware, love that their getting the music “on out there”, hope that some will hear what the this genre has to offer.

    • jason330 says:

That’s a good point. When I say that it isn’t my cup of tea, I probably haven’t given is a fair shot.

      • Not sure about that. The artifice of opera is hard to overcome–at least for me.

Which reminds me of a great one-line review by Pauline Kael of ‘A Night At The Opera’:

“The Marx Brothers, doing to Il Trovatore what SHOULD be done to Il Trovatore.”

      • puck says:

I like opera in theory, but watching opera bores me to tears. Opera reminds me of baseball.

I really like baseball, but I haven’t seen a game in many years. The thing is you have to start at spring training and get to know the personalities, skills or weaknesses of the players, the rivalries, the quarrels, your favorite sportswriters, the whole melodrama of it.

But once I got wrapped up in family and work, watching a few innings here or there just doesn’t do it for me anymore.

So I guess I could get into opera, but it would take a commitment.

Maybe try listening just to arias. I think some are kind of moving – “O Mia babbino caro,” “Nessun dorma,” “Chi il bel sogno di Doretta.” I haven’t heard very many of them, though, and I think these are all chestnuts in the opera world. All by Puccini. More modern.
