I am sorry to see this, but it is expected given incumbent Bryon Short’s return to the race after his own withdrawal from the Congressional race. From Daigle’s Facebook page:

< < A conclusion to our 2016 adventure >> Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers, donors, and early supporters that have joined the ‪#‎GoWithJoe‬ team, and made running such an enormous joy. I ran for State Representative to serve my community and create a better future for all of Delaware’s families. This is the same reason the 7th District’s current State Representative ran for Congress. However, Rep. Bryon Short has withdrawn from his congressional race to run for another term as our State Representative—the 7th RD Committee, including myself, have endorsed his re-election. I didn’t run to primary my friend Bryon Short, who has done a fine job, so I am withdrawing my candidacy. Early on, I was honored to receive the endorsements of the Victory Fund & Institute and the Barbara Gittings Delaware Stonewall Democrats. Today, I am most honored by the enthusiastic support I have received and the incredible work of my campaign team. I will also treasure the many memories and new friendships made along the way. For now, Dan and I look forward to a well-deserved little break (He just finished his first year at Temple Law night school!), but we will stay as involved as ever. Many great things begin as a little seed, and so we look forward to digging in even further with our community advocacy, working on our garden, and continuing home renovations. While my name won’t appear on the ballot this November, we will be focused on getting excellent candidates elected to public office, and putting a Democrat in the White House. I will post less here, but invite you to follow along on Twitter (@JoeDaigleTweets) and Instagram (@JosephLDaigle). Together, I am confident that we can achieve great things (and believe we already have). Thank you, and see you about.

I just wanted to say that both Joe Daigle and Rob Cameron are great examples of how candidates should act. They showed class and maturity to the community, as well as their fellow candidates. Neither campaigned negatively and each ran FOR the office, not AGAINST an opponent. Both made a pledge that they would honor the decision of our representative district committee and support the endorsed candidate. Both honored their word. I am fortunate to be on the committee with them, as well as all the great folks who serve there. It shows that we can disagree, compete, but in the end we can come together and work for a common cause. Both these guys will go far and do great things for us in Delaware.

Thank you both for showing civility and character that is often lacking nowadays. Ok, I’m done with my sappy rant.

    Gracious. The man has class.

Nah. Say it ain’t so, Joe! Same thing I said to Joe Montana in the 80’s.
