Republicans Hold Top Spots for Popular Presidents

Filed in National by on February 19, 2007

The Gallup poll of Presidential popularity was just released.  At least the number one spot has been retaken by a Republican that I would have voted for.  Number one has been retaken by Lincoln, dropping Reagan to number 2.  JFK and Bill Clinton take 3 and 4 respectively.  2% of those polled had brain damage, so they voted for W.

Geek, you’re doing a great job. Keep it up. And for the record, asking the American public to rate the presidents is about as enlightening as asking them to rank the developments in particle physics.

FWIW, geek, what I said is a compliment, too. Sometimes what is funny to me isn’t so obvious to others. You are doing a fine job.

Since Al brought it up, here is my list of developments in particle physics:

Reagan….pshaw!! Hold it. Reagan had the smarts to invade an island with a population of 80,000 and not a country of 26 million.

    Viva Reagan!!

I used to think Reagan was the worst president in recent history. Now he’s just an also-ran.

    MOT & Al,

    Gracias. I appreciate the support.

Isn’t it funny how the rest of the republicans pale in comparison to this joker? I guess that is a bright spot for republicans. At least their former Presidents look a lot better than they would otherwise. I almost long for the days of Reagan saying that the missiles were flying… What a card that guy was…

Newbie, that’s exactly how my particle physics list looks, too.

I hate to agree with George W., but it’s kind of ridiculous to try to gauge his place in history while he’s still in office. Frankly, I think it’s a little early to be gauging Carter’s and Reagan’s. Look at how much we’re downgraded Kennedy over the past 15 years or so. Heck, Truman is still being reevaluated.

Lincoln? Yeah, his transgressions against the Constitution make anything Bush has done look like stealing a candy bar from the 7-11!

It’s about time you said something sensible about this. Now if you’d only extend the same fair-mindedness to the troop surge in Baghdad. I believe the president will be vindicated by history, as Truman has been.

Reagan’s impact and Carter’s as well were immediately recognizable – the wall went down, energy prices went up respectively.

  10. G.,

    You’re a nut…but I still love ya, man!
