Top Al Gore Aid Burns CIA Agent: National Security Put At risk
Washington (AP) – The revelation that Vice President Al Gore’s top aid, Scooter Libby, may have been involved in the outing of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame has sent shock waves through the Capital.
Ms. Plame had been working on tracking weapons of mass destruction when she was outed by Gore’s aid. Although it is still murky as to whether the alleged disclosure was for political purposes, Republicans and Democrats alike are calling for Gore’s impeachment.
“This is a horrible crime” said Senate Democrat Joe Lieberman “Congress must take this type of treason very seriously. If this is not a ‘high crime or misdemeanor’ I don’t know what is.”
Except:
1. Valarie Plame was introduced by her husband, Joe Wilson, as a CIA agent numerous times
2. the non-indictment of Richard Armitage by Fitzgerald
Signals that no crime was committed.
And anyway, the indictment of an aide is not cause for impeachment.
It’s about as treasonous as Harry Reid saying the Iraq War is lost.
