Bushweller again takes aim at Still

Filed in National by on July 29, 2007

You have to like a guy who gets his shit together early. Not to mention that fact that he is running against the horrible and loathsome John Still

Former Public Safety Secretary Brian Bushweller is hoping the second time will be a charm in challenging Sen. John C. Still III, R-Dover North, in the 17th Senate District.

Four years ago, Bushweller, a Democrat, picked up 47.7 percent of the vote in a three-way race that also featured Independent Party candidate Karen Hartley-Nagle. Still won that contest with 51 percent of the vote.

Bushweller, 61, plans to retire as state director for U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del.

Bushweller served as Carper’s public safety secretary and as his legislative liaison when Carper was governor.

He previously spent 18 years working in three different states for teachers’ unions, including 13 years for the Delaware State Education Association.

In addition to concerns about quality schools and jobs in the district, Bushweller, said he’s also worried about sprawl. “Over-development threatens the very quality of life that makes our area so attractive in the first place,” Bushweller said.

Can’t wait for this one, either!

  2. Disbelief says:

There was some mud-slinging last time around from the Still camp that inferred Bushweller was not as ‘hard’ on homosexuals as Still was/is. Wonder how Prince Lil’ Johnny Family Values Still is going to handle his hard line stance on everything not white, Protestant, male, hetersexual, and Republican?

Aren’t wedding vows “to death do us part”? Isn’t this oath made before God, presumably a Guy of even higher authority than the Constitution per GOP philosophy? Maybe Still can spin this by saying he meant the death of his political career.

While Brian is a bit conservative for me I have always found him to be hard working, honest and straight. He’s coming from a conservative district so his politics are probably a good fit with his future constituents. This is good news.

Sometimes you have to end a marriage to preserve its “sanctity.”

Does this Bushweller have twin sons?
