Patriot Day: Which should we be fighting for – The Flag or the Constitution?
The flag..duh.
That is such a no brainer that it is not even funny. What do we pledge our allegiance to in school, the Constitution? NO!
The Constitution is nothing but a piece of paper that has to be kept in a special case otherwise it would turn into dust. AND what would be so bad about that? I don’t need the Constitution to tell me that it is okay to keep my guns – MY GUNS TELL ME THAT!! Anyway, the Constitution is outdated. 9/11 shows that we can’t really afford the luxury of a Constitution right now.
The flag on the other hand is a thing of beauty. With or without the gold trim, it is a stirring reminder of the Iwo Jima Monument, which is a kick ass monument. And although I would not actually “fight” for the flag in the strict sense of joining the army, I’ll fight for it with my last breath (metaphorically speaking).
OK. OK, OK, fine. I still don’t like the layout. You win the flag. Stop breathing. Of course, I mean that with all the brotherly love I can muster. 🙂
I hope you are not dissing the Iwo Jima monument. Cuz if you are dissing the iwo jima monument you are dissing the troops, and if you are dissing the troops you are dissing Freedom and if you are dissing freedom you are a nazi.

The Iwo Jima Memorial is indeed a superb memorial. I go past it quite often in DC andhad the once in a lifetime opportunity to be on top of Mt. Suribachi while in the Marine Corps. There are two monuments on top of Suribachi, one for the US and one for the Japanese. Very emotional and profound to say the least.
Also, when the patrol was going up the hill the words were “if you get to the top, put this (flag) up”. Not when, but if.

Yes, also Murtha. Do not confuse views on his public opinions for what he has done in his adult life. He is saying what he believes which is fine, we can salute his views or offer our own.
The comment ” if you get to the top” would make sense if you could have been on top of Mt. Sutibachi and viewed the enormity of the task.
