Hostage Situation in NH Clinton Campaign Office

The latest from NH television station WMUR via kos:

Officials with the campaign confirmed that there were two workers taken hostage in the office on 28 North Main St.. A woman and her baby told workers at a neighboring business that she was released by the hostage-taker.

“A young woman with a 6-month or 8-month-old infant came rushing into the store just in tears, and she said, ‘You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape,'” witness Lettie Tzizik said.

Ruh, Roh, Romney is in trouble

The only reason Huckabee is soaring is because everyone else is flailing. Fourth Person Confirms On The Record That Romney Nixed Muslims In Cabinet

“He was asked if he would appoint a Muslim to his cabinet,” Keene told me. “And he said, `Not likely.’ He said flatly that it was highly unlikely that it was ever going to happen.”

What’s 37 years between Housing price records

I have to admit, I wasn’t even an itch in my daddy’s pants in 1970 so you’ll have to excuse me if I don’t recall who was President then and what party he was. I say HE only because I assume it was a he. And the white part goes without saying too.
Prices for new houses nationwide fell last month by their largest margin since 1970, when the nation was in a recession, providing more gloomy news for the struggling building industry and the jittery economy.

When Political Confidence Becomes Hubris

I’ll just cut and paste from today’s NJ and you be the judge.  Does it seem like Baker is as a mayor or a central American “El Jeffe?”

Baker said he would not engage his competition so early in the campaign. “Just tell all the wannabes out there that I’m running the city and they can do whatever,” he said.

WTF? That was in response to this from Tyler Nixon.

Nixon said he will craft a document for all voters similar to Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America in the mid-1990s. It will include a voluntary pledge limiting the mayor’s tenure to eight years rather than 12. He’ll ask all candidates to sign the contract.

“It won’t be full of Republican points, but doable structural policy changes that will appeal to all voters,” he said. “I think eight years is enough. There’s a good reason we’ve never had a three-term mayor. They move up the political food chain and become too fat and cozy with the way things are.”

Is it me?

The problem with our “liberal” MSM

here is a great example of what is wrong with our “liberal” MSM. We have a reporter and I use the term loosely, Howard Kurtz that is whining away about how hillary Clinton doesn’t let or have the press on her bus. She is limiting access to these poor guys therefor making it that much more difficult for them to “cover” the candidate.

If you don’t know anything about Howie, he is biased, no not left either. He is subtle enough, but you watch this putz enough on CNN and read his junk enough you can tell he doesn’t like Clinton and leans to the right. So much for that liberal bias I guess. Below is a good example of Howie. He works for the Washington Post, you know that liberal newspaper. Tell me what you think of this as he contrasts and compares a Republican with a Democrat.

With rare exceptions — John McCain chats endlessly with reporters aboard his bus — leading presidential candidates take a wary approach to the press, doling out access in carefully limited increments. Journalists sometimes question whether it is worth the time and energy to trail politicians who rarely engage them. In this regard, Clinton differs only in her degree of discipline, honed during eight years of often testy media relations in her husband’s White House.

Uh-huh. So Mr. Accessable, Maverick, straight-talker, surge supporter is the bees-knees.  With “rare exception” What the fuck is that? While Clinton is disciplined (hard, tough) honed (precise, calculated), testy (bitchy) I mean gimme a break people.

In case that was a mistake and Howie was at a loss for fair and balanced reporting…read on.

Clinton blames an overtaxed schedule for the arm’s-length approach, but something more fundamental is at work here. She, like her rivals, wants to deliver a daily message, usually framed around some policy prescription, while reporters want to ask her about the latest polls, tactics or blast from Barack Obama or John Edwards.

Uh-huh, liberal media my ass…keep dreaming wing nuts.   And to make another point about Howie’s original intent that Clinton isn’t accessable why would chumming up with a candidate be a good thing?  Wouldn’t being an actual Journalist with an outside view be more appealing then someone that gets invited to the oval office to disseminate their talking points?  What a joke.

Around the Horn Friday: Mmmmm, Uterus Edition

Please let me thank donviti for a tour de force two weeks ago.  I, like most of you laughed my ass off.  Good show, my friend.

Speaking of things that made me laugh, the whole Tommy Little/Frank Sims/IPOD debacle sank even deeper into the gutter last weekend with aTommy Little interview on WGMD.  You gotta check out the audio montage at DWA or listen to the whole thing at Delaware Watch.  My favorite part inspired the title of this post.  There are indeed some freaks out there.

Meanwhile the local blogging universe continues its consolidation as Mat Marshall begins cross-posting at DWA and The Soapbox.  I think the quality of blogging has risen as this consolidation progresses.

Speaking of the local blogosphere, at least two bloggers have decided that they are done with this blog, Duffy and Hube.  This will not prevent me from linking to them and I hope that they can see beyond their offended sense of patriotism and come back to read us soon.

Duffy has a great video that really made me crack up.  Bollywood is so … foreign. 🙂

Felix over at The Colossus of Rhodey has a catch on a Hitler comparison.  This time bloggers are pamphleteers that Hitler would have eliminated.  Bill Conlin, you are a fat, ugly crusher of office chairs.

Tommywonk and DWA both have posts highlighting Al Gore’s visit to the White House.  7 years too late.

Also Kilroy and Delaware Libertarian have excellent coverage of the sneaky tactics of Vision 2015 and their quite cozy relationship with DPPI.

We lost (or almost lost) a few prominent Republicans this week.  Merit Bound Alley tells us that Dick Cheney had heart problems.  JttR tells us that Trent Lott has resigned from the Senate.  And Henry Hyde’s passing is noted over at Gazizza.

The always insightful Kavips has coverage of the most religious segment of American demographics.  And they vote for Democrats primarily.

Over at FSP, Dave is rolling out the English-only BS for Christmas.  Feliz Navidad, yo!

Nancy reports on some good press for brother Joe on the lefty blogs this week.  Rudy is an excellent target.  Keep on him Joe.

Common Sense Political Thought has the story for us of the Briton in Sudan that almost got 40 lashes for insulting Islam (by naming a Teddy Bear Muhammed).

Stephen Crockett over at Delaware Watch has a suggestion to get a handle on price-gouging.  Someone’s been out Christmas shopping lately.

The last of the heavy topics is a post at “Into Good and Evil” about the multiverse.  I’m going to read it after I get a good nights sleep.

Mike Mahaffie is published in the old media.  Nice job.

KarmicJay has a “not a review” for the movie Outsourced.  Ahhh, I miss the movies.  Anyone out there want to babysit?

Finally, we come back to a rare second link to Gazizza with Paul Smith’s post about Nerd Pickup Lines.  Funny stuff.

It looks like I am going to have some pretty crappy weather for my Eagles tailgating this Sunday.  I will be thinking about our troops in harms way on Sunday during the singing of the National Anthem at the game.  Please find some time to think of them and the 3,880 American soldiers killed in Iraq and the 77,572 Iraqis that have been killed since we invaded under false pretenses.  Have a good weekend.

Good Deed or Are We Trying to Infect Haiti?

I just came across this article at the Washington Times.  Delaware is exporting firewood to Haiti in an effort to stem deforestation in the Caribbean nation.  Sound like a good deed, eh?

Here’s the problem: most states on the east coast have started to put some strict limits on firewood crossing state lines to prevent the spread of the Asian Long-Horned Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer.  I was personally told by Cape Henlopen that next year all wood will have to be purchased from them for campfires.

If this is the case, aren’t we just risking Haiti’s forests to make a buck?

I’m sure this was Clinton’s fault too

Former Rep. Henry Hyde Is Dead at 83

But he apparently grew increasingly angry with Mr. Clinton and his responses to the committee, and shepherded impeachment resolutions alleging perjury and obstruction of justice through both the committee and the full House on nearly straight patty line votes — even though he was embarrassed when news surfaced of his own extramarital affair some 30 years earlier.

Mmmmm, beer

Dublin beer bandit raids Guinness

Police said the raider took 180 kegs of Guinness stout, 180 kegs of U.S. lager Budweiser and 90 kegs of Danish beer Carlsberg. Guinness brews both of those brands under license for sale in Ireland

Did anyone else know that Guinness brews Bud?  Not sure how crazy I am about that….
