George Bush knows a Democracy when he sees one

Sure we know about the burgeoning democracy Iraq is about to become, we also know that freedom is on the march in Pakistan.  But did you know that George called it in Georgia too?  No not that Georgia that prays to God for Rain…

The Georgia that President Bush has called a “beacon of democracy” in the region.

Apparently thier President gets the US version of Democracy too…

Addressing the country on television Wednesday, the American-educated Saakashvili said: “We cannot let our country become the stage for dirty geopolitical escapades by other countries,” an allusion to Russia. “Our democracy needs the firm hand of the authorities.”

And honestly what Democracy doesn’t need a firm hand? Not some pussy like invisible hand!

This hand is so firm in fact

Opponents say Saakashvili’s government has become increasingly authoritarian in ways that echo Soviet days, allowing judicial abuse and political intimidation

AWESOME! I wonder if Bush looked into this guys eyes and saw his soul too?

oh and this little nugget is sweet too…

About 9 p.m., Imedi, a television station known for its opposition to the government, went off the air in the middle of a live broadcast. Before the screen went black, the anchor said police had entered the premises and had told employees to lie on the floor.

He called on foreign governments to respond. Imedi has been owned jointly by billionaire opposition supporter Badri Patarkatsishvili and Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Last week, the station announced that News Corp. was increasing its shares to a majority stake.

This was all youtubed. This is real creepy. Watch them in this order:

This one is all in Russian and shows the anchors nervously trying to deliver the news while they know something is going down. It is like a bad Weekend Update sketch. About 2/3 of the way through the station manager pulls them out of the chair and delivers his own announcement:

This one has an English overdub and takes up where the first one leaves off. It ends with the station going dark as the cameras pan around trying to film the agents in the studio:

But it could never happen here.

I wonder how much of this was staged for effect. Anybody speak the language?

I told you that there are two kinds of socialism…corporate socialism and generalized socialism. I have seen both intimately.

They are both threats to liberty and directly against humanitarianism even when it is state supported…. Which are you ready to have? I would say that the only goal worthy of this government is Liberty, and humanitarianism needs to be voted for and supported by the states. It makes the system more decentralized and empoweres everyone under the constitution, and takes political control away of being good away from the monopolies and gives them back to the people.

I gaurentee you this event was not staged. I would not be surprised if Rupert Murdoch did not call the cops himself.
