Boy. And I thought I hated Iowa for giving us John Kerry

Filed in National by on January 4, 2008

Dear Iowa Republicans,

I’ll put this in language even your tiny little Iowa brains can understand: What the f*** is wrong with you people? The news coming out of Des Moines (literally, French for “tell me about the rabbits, George”) tonight is distressing in the extreme. 32 years ago, your Democratic brethren took one look at Jimmy Carter — the worst 20th Century President bar Nixon, and the worst ex-President ever — and declared, “That’s our man!” Three decades later, and along comes Mike Huckabee. Same moral pretentiousness, same gullibility on foreign affairs, only-slightly-less toothy idiot’s grin. Then you so-called Republicans took a look at Carter’s clone and said, “That’s our man, too!” And by a pretty wide margin. […] Mike Huckabee? Really? We’ve seen this game before, and its name is… every other single stupid, un-winnable candidate you’ve ever picked — which is most of them. So I repeat the question: What is wrong with you people? All my love, you corn-sucking idiots,

Well what did they expect? Here’s an account of a GOP caucus room via RedState:

A gal with a Rudy sticker led those assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance. A young pastor led the prayer, thanks to God Almighty “in the name of Jesus Christ, our savior” for the country, for freedom, for democracy, and for the process. No stickers on the pastor. A high school girl in a red top with white polka dots came out and sang, without musical accompaniment, God Bless the U.S.A., and for this, she received her due applause.

And then Lawrence Welk introduced the dog act.

No wonder this process produced Huck. Definition of insanity, not?

  2. John Feroce says:

Jimmy Carter actually was beaten by a guy named “uncommitted”.

    January 19, 1976 –
    “Uncommitted” (37%),
    Jimmy Carter (28%)
    Birch Bayh (13%),
    Fred R. Harris (10%),
    Morris Udall (6%),
    Sargent Shriver (3%),
    and Henry M. Jackson (1%)

I wonder what the results would have been last night if “uncommitted” was still a choice?

  3. Von Cracker says:

Looking at that list, I’d be undecided too!

  4. cassandra m says:

Probably not so different. Why would people come out on a cold Iowa night in record shattering numbers to say they were Uncommitted?

  5. anon says:

I was a kid then but looking at that list it makes you wonder why the post Watergate Dems were so week.

Of course, they had been shot up pretty bad.

  6. John Feroce says:

I think they watered themselve down with a record 23 candidates in the Primary and confused the electorate enough that they needed to narrow the field before anyones message got through.

  7. Dorian Gray says:

Uncommitted was an option last night.

This is the party Rove built. He made the bed, now you can lie in it and wait for the rapture.

  8. Dana Garrett says:

You have to give it to the Repubs, though.

Who else could have found a way to reconcile the constituencies of God and Greed to such an extent that they were often indistinguishable?

  9. liz allen says:

If you actually think ANY of the candidates will change a damn thing, think again.

War Whispers: The 2008 hopefuls promised a change in foreign policy, they ALL have hired the same old guard! (war criminals all).

Here’s who your new hope Obama has advising him: Zbignew Brezenski: boasted to french news that he CREATED the whole Afgan jihadi movement, the movement that produced Osama. Asked if that was bad policy, he said: “We were getting the Soviets”.

Sarah Sewell, human rights activist at Harvard, a former defense official who wrote the intro to Gen. Petraeus, Marine Corp/Army Insurgency Manual, now being used by US troops in various killing operations.

Dennis Ross: led the assault on Pres. Carter because Carter was so bold to agree with Bishop Tutu that what Israel was doing in the Occupied Territories, was apartheid. Worked for ClintonBush2, overseeing US policy towards Israel/Palestine. (hows that working out for us).

Anthony Lake: main force behind the invasion of Haiti in Clinton years. brought back Aristede, pledged the World Bank/IMF overhaul of economy, resulted in starvation and set stage for political disaster later.

Richard Clark; former terrorism expert top guy in charge on 911.

    Clintons so called experts:

Madeline Albright-behind the Iraq sanctions that killed 400,000 Iraqi citizens (mostly children). Sec. of State under billy boy!
Samuel Berger: former national security advisor
Richard Holbrooke: former UN ambassador, who oversaw the shipment of weapons to Indonesia resulting in 1/3 of the population of East Timor slaughtered.

Wes Clark: bombing campaign in Yugoslavia, and went after “civilian” targets!

Guiliani: Norman Poderhantz, father of the neo cons! Has a book out “world war 4”, bomb, bomb Iran!

Daniel Pipes: leading the crusade on Islamofascists along with the Hoover Insitute, American Heritage Found. American Enterprise Insitute, and Heritage Foundation, all the neo cons who brought our country into todays mess!

Robert Kaston, Ex. Senator major backer of Pakistani military dictatorship.

McCain: his advisors are some of the oldest war criminals in modern history.
Henry Kissinger: responsible for mass deaths in Cambodia, VietNam and Chile! Was part of the Milton Friedman neo cons who applied their economic privatization of everything in Chile, assassinating a democratic elected Prez. Allende and replacing him with Pinochet and a military dictatorship!

Bud McFarlane: former Reagun cabinet: Key backer of the Contras!Rember the Nuns that were raped and thrown from the planes!
Brent Scowcroft: he opposed Iraq invasion, but when China killed thousands in Tiamanen Square, he went to Chinese leaders, “its okay we are still behind you”. Worked for Bush 1 and Bush 2.

Max Boot: El Salvador where 70,000 civilians were killed in the american backed death squads, stated “what happened in El Salvador is a model for the US today”! Negroponte and Kissinger involved in that too.

Romney: Cofer Black, A CIA operative, key person behind invasion of Afganistan.
“We are going to Afganistan and we are going to CUT off their heads”. He is now VP of Blackwater Worldwide!

Dan Senor, big pusher of War in Iraq, he is married to Campbell Brown CCN, replacing Paula Zahn???

Huckabee: John Bolton UN Ambassdor appointed during a recess under Bush…Neo Con, wants US to attack Iran, and everywhere else in the middle east. A neo cons neo con!

Edwards: Mudcat Saunders- anti the 35,000 lobbyists in DC, Edwards advisers come from the Army/Air Force and Navy Material Command.

Thompsons advisor: Elizabeth Cheney daughter of Darth Varder Cheney the VP.

So what we have is NO CHANGE at all, just the same ole pro-establishment clicques!

No pundit is asking the question, “who are your advisers, to have to admit to who is advising them, is to admit they will be no change at all for America! Its all a Shell Game!

if you want more information on this:

    or: democracynow.org Jan. 3, 2008 report.

American Conservative ran the War Whispers
Report on “whose advising the candidates”. There are no fresh ideas, no real solutions in our foreign policy, which is why they must keep Ron Paul out of debates, demonized Dennis Kucinch the only two men who could have freed us from the tyranny imposed on us by the actions of our goverment in control for last 50 years.

There, feel better now! Feel that CHANGE in the air….I am thinkin Wind Power!

  10. Steve Newton says:

Agreeing that we’re only selecting between different wings of the Demopublican party, I have to ask whether in your opinion anybody who has ever served the US in a military command capacity is a war criminal?

  11. jason330 says:

    also…

What would you have us do liz? Boycott the election?

    Vote for a third party?

Wait, that would be a boycott, and would have just as much impact.

  12. liz allen says:

I am putting out this information to make you all see that nothing new will happen when you surround yourself with advisors who have committed horrific war crimes against humanity over 50 years, and expect them to change our foreign policy. Good speeches is not enough! Will admit Obama made me feel good, but when I researched his advisors, what a let down.

Not saying boycott, but we must be vigilant to make sure we again vote for the lesser of two evils.

Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinch were our best hope. Edwards is being blacked out by corporate media, especially NBC and MSNBC who pulled their reporters from his campaign.

Last night the second biggest story was Edwards beat Clinton, but the corporate pundits skipped that little fact, and continued to make it a Hillary/Obama race. When you check out their advisors you can see why they support them.
