Selander Watch
Does anyone know if Brian Selander asked the big open goverment champion Charlie Copeland why he had a secret meetings with Harris McDowell and Randall Speck prior to Speck’s three hour grilling of Arnetta McRae?
I mean Selander is supposed to be the counter weight to that out and out ass Rick Jensen right?
Isn’t Jensen the same infomercial guy who can get you free government money?
no Jensen is a bigger schmuck
Jenson believes “disaster capitalism” is a okay! Milt Friedman economics guide him, am sure Jenson has never looked at what diaster capitalism did to Chile and many other South American countries!
Once a schumck always a schumck. Jenson hates government, hates regulations and rules, believes that super capitalism, war mongering is just fine!
You gotta wonder how Brian can sit there an listen to his crap, but he is a new father, gotta have a job, and he knows what happens to you as co host if you have the cahones to fight back.
Selander tries, but it’s obvious that Jenson’s still in charge. He talks over Brian, and sometimes I wonder how Brian keeps from decking him.
I did bring up wind power and Copeland agreed to be on the show later this week to talk specifically about it.
The question on Speck is certainly on my list to ask. As is the question – if you’re really a supporter of wind power, why not get your caucus together and demand an up-or-down vote on approving the contract? Why hide behind committee meetings?
Happy to take suggestions for others.
On the issue of getting in Rick’s face all the time- which folks email me about a lot – when he gets really far right wing, a lot of times I do just let him go because I think the only people moved by that are the folks we’re never going to win over – the 18% or so that still like Bush.
For example, Dr. Chad Tolman came on last week to talk about how climate change is real and the skeptics are wrong. The callers who share Rick’s view that it’s not real simply sounded like reactionaries.
The moderates, independents or undecided who listen when Rick gets really right-wing say “wow. That’s really not where I am on these things at all” and are more likely to dismiss some of his other arguments because of it.
Obama was exactly right when he said:
“If you know who you are, and who you’re fighting for, what your values are, you can afford to reach out across the aisle . If you start off with an agreeable manner, you can pick off folks, recruit some independents into the fold, recruit some Republicans into the fold. When you get the votes, you will beat them. And do it with a smile on your face.”
Brian: Why do you think him and Gerry used to get into it…at least Gerry wouldn’t let him talk over him, butwould talk over him back. actually it made radio worth listening too! I am sure you see all those right wing notes, from his wing think tanks. He is preaching to the die hard 18%, and hows that working out for republicans…the republican party can’t even scrape together enough bucks to run a candidate for Governor.
Brian: Why do you think him and Gerry used to get into it? At least Gerry would permit him to “talk over” but “talk over right back with fact”. Actually it made radio worth listening too! I am sure all those right wing notes, from his right wing think tanks. He is preaching to the die hard 18% the rest of Delaware are mortified at his comments! How is Ricks rant working out for the republican party…they can’t even get enough bucks to run a governor.
“I did bring up wind power and Copeland agreed to be on the show later this week to talk specifically about it.”
Brian, I’m confused about something. You brought up the windpower stuff at the beginning of the program, but Copeland didn’t mention the possibility of an interview about his views on windpower until the end of the program.
Unless there’s something not evident from listening to the interview, how did you plan to ask Copeland further questions on the matter before he suggested the idea of another interview about his position on wind power?
I’ve noticed that when Brian is getting really steamed at Rick, he calls him “my friend” rather than launching into an incoherent tirade about “glittering generalities” the way Fulcher would have.
I heard a little bit today and it is very clear that Jensen does not do anything other than watch Bill O’Reilly the previous night and repeat everything that O’Reilly says.
The guy is absolutely stealing money from Delmarva broadcasting.
Brian did well today. He really took Jenson on. Jenson was saying that Michelle Obama sat on two different boards, one that closed a pickle plant that cost Hispanics their jobs, and one for a hospital that charged Hispanics 3x more than everyone else.
Brian really went after Jenson’s inference– “What you’re saying is that Michelle Obama hates Hispanics.”
Jenson went nuts. “That’s not what I said!”
Brian, “It’s what you were implying.”
Again and again Brian hammered the point, and you could tell Rick wasn’t happy. He actually accused Brian of talking over HIM!
Good work, Brian.
Jensen had a valid point about Michelle Obama’s sitting on those corporate boards, but only in the context of her husband’s having attacked Clinton in the debate for sitting on the board of Wal Mart. (I didn’t listen to the whole show, but I don’t think he ever managed to connect those dots.) Wal Mart, is of course code for big evil corporation that, among other things, employed illegal Hispanic workers as cleaning crews.
Jensen didn’t make that point, but you did!
Actually, he couldn’t make that point because his main POINT was that Michelle Obama hates Hispanics. Damn, he could have shut the conversation down, and he blew it!!
Sadly, he bought into a smear campaign and couldn’t see past it. I found what he was implying very ugly. This wasn’t a debate about board members.
Brian pointed out the truth behind Jensen’s words, and took control of the debate. I still say he did a good job.
