Has Anyone Heard the Radio Ads Calling Out Delmarva for Their Lies ?

Filed in National by on May 5, 2008

Version 1 (Male voice) Delmarva Power claims offshore wind energy would raise our electric rates 30 to 40 percent. But the Public Service Commission says it would be no more than 5 percent—and that’s only if fossil fuel prices go down instead of up. Instead coal and natural gas are climbing sky-high. Call your state senator to say we want them to decide on offshore wind power based on the facts—not Delmarva Power’s scare tactics. Paid for by individual citizens through Delaware Audubon.

Version 2 (Female voice) Delmarva Power claims offshore wind energy would raise electric rates 30 to 40 percent. But the Public Service Commission and independent experts say rates would rise no more than 5 percent—and that’s based on Delmarva’s assumption that fossil fuel prices will drop. Assume that fossil fuel prices will drop? Fuel prices are going through the roof! Call your state senator to say we want them to choose offshore wind power based on the facts—and not buckle under to Delmarva Power’s scare tactics.

Goood stuff.

These were paid for by individual citizens through Delaware Audubon and should have started running on WDEL this morning.

Delaware Audubon will be honoring the good people of Citizens for Clean Power later this month with an award. Citizens for Clean Power is a grassroots organization down in Sussex and they have been working like mad on this issue.

    GRASSROOTS RULE!

Interesting, considering that Massachusetts Audubon (my Mom gets their newsletter) is against the Cape Wind project – that’s the one that threatens to spoil Teddy Kennedy’s view. Their contention is that the danger to birds has been either underestimated or underreported, and they want the right to close the whole thing down if they determine too many shorebirds are being killed by the windmills.

If I’m not mistaken, the Massachusetts project is closer to shore than BWW 12 mile distance.

  5. Pat Gearity says:

Cape Wind project would be around 3 miles from shore. Bluewater Wind project would be over 11 miles from shore.
