    John Edwards…hands down.

  2. Duffy says:

    Reanimated Ronald Reagan Zombie

  3. Pandora says:

Warning: I’m about to sound like a cliche! 🙂

I lean to JFK because of vision. Vision and tone are what I want in a President. Once you get people excited about an idea they become invested in its outcome… and then anything is possible.

    Hugo Chavez!

    sike!

    FDR – tried & true.

  5. Dorian Gray says:

Lincoln. If you don’t know why you should probably just get off the internet and read a book.

  6. G Rex says:

You’ve got the wrong Roosevelt there, Cracker. Teddy would have done better sooner in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he had a healthy distrust of both big business and big government. Bull Moose!

  7. Von Cracker says:

Thought about him, but he was a little too imperialistic for my taste.

    …but, also, a good choice.

  8. Dana says:

Richard Cheney; surely you aren’t surprised?

I supported Mr Cheney when he was considering running for president in 1996, but he withdrew what minor candidacy he had long before the Iowa caucuses.

  9. Dana says:

Pandora: John F Kennedy wouldn’t be a bad choice, because he was one of the last of the strong, anti-communist Democrats. If the Democratic Party had stayed the Democratic Party of JFK, you’d see me supporting it.

I would have to say Jefferson. Hands down. He would have smashed the bank control of the individual, opened up the treasury, made war on the oil companies and special interests, re-armed the citizens to protect the nation against terrorism and corruption, shut down the IRS and given all their guns and tanks to local national guards, told the world we are partners, revamped the UN, and probably invented a whole mass of scientific stuff so that we never need to depend on foreign oil again. And as an added bonus, we already would have won the war on terrorism just like the war on the barbary pirates (who were much larger, better armed for the time, and agressive) took a few years to finish. We would have the navy sitting off the coast of Colombia to end the drug lord’s regin, made friends with Iran and opened up trade with all the countries we do not trade with now like Cuba, more than that we would have opened up new technology and trading markets to all of Eurasia and built highways through the Arctic to Russia so when we need oil we can get it from them without all the middle eastern melodrama.

We would probably also have scientists and archaeologists on Mars by now drilling and mining for natural resources.

Talk about taking on both big government and business special interests…he and TR would be the best Pres. ands VP team we have ever had.

By comparision, the R. Ray-gun Zombie would probably eat our brains and have latched on to “little T-rex armed” McCain as a parasitic twin. It still may happen.

  11. Dorian Gray says:

Point taken. Brian sold me on Jefferson.

  12. truth teller says:

This is an easy one the only two that have FDR and Bill Clinton

  13. truth teller says:

After reading Brian I’ll add good old Thomas Jefferson to the list

  14. G Rex says:

Ooh, I forgot about the Barbary Pirates! So you’re saying ol’ TJ would have told the Pakis to kiss his ass and sent the Marines into Waziristan?

  15. Alan Coffey says:

I’ll take TJ AFTER his foray into trade restrictions. He seemed to have learned his lesson.

  16. Brian says:

Nope, G- I think he would have taken a different approach and offered China and Norinco a bounty on OBL’s head, as well as issued a writ of marquee to our army special forces to find al-queda and netralize them. He would NOT have invaded Iraq, threatened Iran or alientated any other nations in doing so. And he probably would have offered Pakistan a choice between war on two fronts between us and China or one with them v. al-queda and have driven out the Taliban into a trap in Xinjiang with the Chinese and then let the Afghans decide how to run their country without us in it.

Promoted Pan Americanism to protect the western hemisphere and respected each republic’s rights and fortified our own civil liberties. As well as closed half of our military bases around the world to save us money and balance the budget and maintain our social welfare programs. And taken us out of the middle east all together so we can aid our own citizens and OUR national development first. With an extra trillion or so dollars, there are number of things you can do.

Then no restrictions on who we can or cannot trade with and manufacture for and allow us to compete in the world market individually and corporately. And kept the tarriff structure from about 10 years ago in place to incease our budget while cutting the growth of government and encouraging every sort of private enterprise and innovation. Revoked NAFTA, CAFTA and any other unilateral trade agreements and gone back to bilateral trade for our national interest.

I think Democrats would see for the first time true democracy at the local level, and Republicans would see a smaller government with less spending and taxation. The only people unhappy with this plan would be the people who have fed off of corporate subsides for so many years.
