Does Hillary Want Obama Killed?

Filed in National by on May 27, 2008

Of course not.

However, she slipped up and told the truth about why she is still in the race that she has already lost. She openly hopes for Barack Obama to die some political death by making the gaffe of gaffes. The coup de gaffe so to speak.

I am not the only person who is amused by the irony of Clinton making the career ending gaffe while waiting for Obama’s gaffe.

C’mon, even Obama said it just came out wrong and she didn’t mean anything by it.

2. jason330 says:

Everyone knows that she did not mean “He might get killed.” Most people agree that she meant “He might slip up.” In either case, she knows that it is over but she is holding out for some Deus Ex Machina.

3. Joe. Please Stop! She has said this Exact Same Thing more than once. Do you call that “coming out wrong”? The question isn’t whether she wants this to happen it is that she wants the idea that assassination is yet another one of Obama’s vulnerabilities to bubble and froth in the American conversation.
She has inspired on FOX commentor to openly joke in hope of death to Obama:

“This latest incident from FOX News continues the trend in violent rhetoric about Sen. Obama from pundits, politicians, and entertainers.
Grinning While Joking About Killing A Candidate
The incident happen in an exchange with the FOX News anchor. When asked her opinion of the recent scandal surrounding some comments made by Sen. Hillary Clinton, which Trotta described by saying that, “some are reading [it] as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama.” Hemmer quickly corrected Trotta, having noticed that she had said “Osama” when she meant “Obama.” At this point, Trotta said, “Obama. Well…both if we could!” Trotta then laughed gleefully.
As if she were providing a punchline to that long-running propaganda campaign, Trotta made known that the conclusions the public should draw were (1) that Sen. Obama and Osama bin Laden are equivalent, and (2) they both deserve to be assassinated.
Americans Everywhere Are Tired Of This!
There is no question that broadcast pundits “can” make jokes about assassinating a Senator and a Presidential candidate. The United States Constitution protects freedom of expression to the extreme. But that is the wrong question to ask in this situation. The issue is not “can” pundits make jokes about assassinating Sen. Obama, but “should” they?”

from HuffPo today sorry no linkee

4. and she was tired when she said she was under sniper fire

and she meant nothing by the statement about her carrying white voters

and she meant nothing about bombing Iran

and
and
and

Spare me knows exactly what she is doing. It’s all her subtle way of saying, I’m a woman, but did you fucking notice OBAMA IS A FUCKING BLACK GUY PEOPLE?

Here’s the most interesting point (to me) of the blog post you linked to, Jason:

“Clinton supporters are whining that people are picking on poor Hillary again, making a Big Deal out of an innocent remark. These are the same people who won’t let go of Obama’s “bitter” remark, which some argue was taken out of context. I say live by the gotcha, die (metaphorically speaking) by the gotcha.”

This, in a nutshell, is the whole story. The media does what the media does, especially when they have something that seems to get folks glued to the TV or clicking on their links. But wonder if HRC or her surrogates will be accusing Obama as being elitist and out of touch for simply shrugging off her remarks.

6. Sagacious Steve says:

They’re called Freudian slips for a reason. Because a person’s true feelings often slip out unintentionally.

She is now officially playing Joe Lieberman to Obama’s Ned Lamont. Let’s hope the result is not the same.

I’m really beginning to think she’s gonna turn some imagined slight into a 3rd Party run for the Presidency.

7. Al Mascitti says:

In a way, the remark was brilliant. Instead of focusing on the fact that the analogy is just plain wrong on the facts — the timing of primaries and caucuses in 1968 bears almost no resemblance to the schedule today — she’s got everyone fighting over which side has the right to feel more insulted.

If we return to the facts, she’s cooked. So she has to keep us focused on the sideshow. And she did.

9. Dominique says:

You guys are really funny. You constantly complain about how much she whines and cries to get votes. Meanwhile, you drama queens scrutinize every word she says and blow it up into The Worst Thing EVER. There’s the irony, Jason.

FTR, this incident hardly a ‘career-ending gaffe’. Again with the drama.

Al – which facts are you referring to? That she’s polling better vs. McCain in terms of electoral votes?

10. cassandra m says:

So, Dominique, you were one of the HRC supporters who thought that folks shouldn’t take Obama to be elitist and out of touch for his “bitter” remark? Just want to know if this tamping down on the drama is just for Obama supporters of for the whole jumping on gaffes thing in general.

11. annon2 says:

From ABC. Titled White Fright. I hate posting it on this thread. You should make it its on thread.

Title: Racism, Security Threats Issues for Obama

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=4918487&page=1

BTW: That electoral college map you hate….Hillary now at 327 head to head with McCain. The risk. The dems trade a win for a maybe, tho Obama has picked up a state or two.

12. Dominique says:

I thought that whole thing bitter/cling thing was overblown as well; however, those comments combined with his discussion of the price of arugula with Iowans and his terrible bowling outing did nothing to help him with ‘connecting’ with blue collar voters. As Obama supporters, you should be very concerned about that – especially given what happened to Kerry when he was labeled an elitist.

Here’s the thing, I know the media narrative is that he was raised by a single mother and lived a life of adversity; however, he went to a very elite private school as a child and he’s a Columbia/Harvard graduate so there’s a bit of a disconnect there. He definitely has an air of privilege about him that doesn’t exactly scream ‘new money’ to me.

13. jason330 says:

Is it your mission in life to drive me nuts with your half-baked, sore loser giberish?

Obama is ‘connecting’ with blue collar voters all over the country. He is your party’s nominee. Get over it.

You too anon2.

14. jason330 says:

Anon2 –

I just read that link, so let me make sure I get your point.

We should give racsists who write anon emails veto power over who we nominate to run for President.

Do I have that right.

15. cassandra m says:

he went to a very elite private school as a child and he’s a Columbia/Harvard graduate so there’s a bit of a disconnect there.

Excellent. I’ve lived long enough to see the day when pulling yourself up by your bootstraps — with the help of alot of scholarships — is actually a political liability.

It is sad, really. Americans used to think that this was behavior to be celebrated. No wonder folks think that the American Dream is dying. People just resent you when you get there.

16. Donna is riding the feminist pony all the way to the gates of hell or the August convention, which every comes first, where the Clinton’s and Terry McAuliffe will crown her haid with laurels, so says Terry.

17. Dana says:

This was a rhetorical question, right?

18. liz allen says:

Clinton represents the “ole democrat machine politics”, established in all the States..PA is a great example. Obama trying to build a new party with new ideas backed by young people whose future is truly at stake here.

Obama will need a huge democrat win in both houses to really do anything to “change Washington”.

Anyone seen “Recount” on HBO yet? Wow. Wow…you know it boiled down to Joe Leiberman ….turning on Gore and his attorneys. Also, there is email all over the internet today, about the RNC trying to hire “agents” to go to the Democrat convention…watch Recount and see what havoc they raised in Florida, which impacted the outcome of the vote count. Stolen election in 2000, one in the making in 2008.

19. Dominique says:

‘Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps’? Really? Is that what you think he did? That’s what I mean. That’s the media narrative.

He grew up in freaking Hawaii, not Harlem. He moved from Hawaii to Indonesia then back to Hawaii so he could attend a very elite private high school. That’s hardly adversity. How do you know if he received scholarships for Columbia and Harvard? I was unable to find anything on the internet about how his college education was financed.

Yes, his mother was single, but she married a couple of times and I think she married pretty well. I’m not saying he didn’t face some adversity in his life, but it doesn’t seem to be anything worse than the average person faces. He didn’t exactly grow up in a trailer and live off of food stamps, though I’m sure that would make the story so much more romantic.

Jason – You are clearly ignoring the media coverage and the exit polls if you think he’s not having a problem connecting with blue-collar workers. Deny it all you want, tho. Whatever helps you sleep at night – including calling me a sore loser. Every time you call me a name, another angel loses his wings as you just prove my point about the hostility of Obama supporters, so have at it.

BTW, It is not my mission to drive you nuts. I’m not going to lie, tho, it is kind of fun. 🙂

20. There is no use talking to someone who is as deeply ignorant as this woman.
Too bad, and to think she thinks it is fun.

Remind me to walk across the street when you see her coming.

21. cassandra m says:

Not driving me nuts. But teaching me something about how information is pointed at specific bits of resentment. I am stunned that someone who could get himself (with alot of help and push from his family) from his awfully modest background to Harvard could be the object of so much resentment over that achievement. This bit is somewhat personal for me — I know what it feels like to be at the other end of that (altho my circumstances were not Obama’s). More than that, though, I mentor a couple of kids from difficult circumstances who are graduating Brown next year (yay!) and I probably need to spend some quality time making sure they get this phenomenon and how to manage it.

22. Al Mascitti says:

“Al – which facts are you referring to? That she’s polling better vs. McCain in terms of electoral votes?”

No, the ones that show she’s going to lose the nomination.

23. Truth Teller says:

I find it very interesting that Robert Kennedy Jr. knew exactly what she ment and the editor of the news paper that was in the room both said that the media has put the wrong spin on this. And even though it envolved RFK jr’s dad you folks seem more upset over this than his own son.
And if you would follow the compleat question and answer session I challange anyone to show me where Obama’s named was mention anywhere during that interview. I know it’s part of the game for his supporters to make him out the marter

24. Al Mascitti says:

TT: I challenge you to show how the timing of the 1968 nominating process has any VALID comparison points to the 2008 nominating process. It has already been shown that she was lying when she said her husband’s campaign wasn’t settled in June. In his own memoir, he states that it was over in April, when Tsongas threw in the towel.

25. Truth Teller says:

Al you know better Kennedy had just entered the race in June and the Cal primary was just run that night

26. Truth Teller says:

yes Al but jerry brown was still running

27. Truth Teller says:

By the way some folks figure things this race was over after Iowa

28. Pandora says:

Jerry Brown also knew when it was over. I do believe he stopped attacking Bill and didn’t really campaign in California.

29. Al Mascitti says:

TT: “Al you know better Kennedy had just entered the race in June and the Cal primary was just run that night”

You’re either playing dumb or you are dumb. The point is that the entire nominating process took place much later in 1968 than it does today. (And by the way, RFK entered the race in March, not June).

In 1968, the New Hampshire primary was held March 12; this year, on Jan. 8. In 1968, only 13 states even held primaries. The eventual nominee, Hubert Humphrey, did not run in any of them. Does this sound anything like today’s nominating landscape?

I could go on, but that should be enough to show that as historical analogy, the RFK comparison doesn’t hold a thimbleful of water.

Want to try again?

“Jerry Brown was still running [in June 1992].”

Bill Clinton, writing in his memoir, “My Life”: “On April 7, we also won in Kansas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. On April 9, Paul Tsongas announced that he would not reenter the race. The fight for the nomination was effectively over.”

So tell it to Bill.

30. Kennedy entered in March TT….get it right

31. Truth Teller says:

Look there is one thing that we all agree on and that is the Race isn’t over till the delegates vote at the convention. So untill that happends no one has it sewed up

32. Rick says:

As an Obama supporter, I am worried about a story thatis going around, that Obama had his own mother killed, or at least was woefully neglectful because she was white.
He was encouraged by his wife and pastor to let her go, as she was not part of their world vision. While it is true that Farakahn confessed to the murder of Malcolm X on 60 Minutes, he was never charged not tried, but he too was consulted on the fate of Obama’s mother, and ordered him to turn away. I hope to God this is not true, but that church and its goals gives me a lot of pause.

33. jason330 says:

1) You are not an Obama supporter
2) Go fuck yourself.

34. This is the kind of despicable post that Dana Garrett would delete.
It should stand as a reminder of how awful the GOP surrogate basement dwelling trolls really are.
I would love it if you guys did an IP address match search for this creep. Is it someone who has posted here before?

35. liberalgeek says:

Nancy, he is a hit-and-run commenter. He is also a piece of shit.

36. liz allen says:

Rick the moron! Are you out of your friggin mind. Farakan never admitted any such thing. Malcolm was killed by the FBI, not Farakan you idiot. Obamas mother died of ovarian cancer, if this is an example of what your neo con repukes will do to damage Obama…that means only one thing…you are supporting the biggest most corrupt horrible liar..John McCain, who can’t win on the economy, the war, the consitution and sees himself as the next “unitary” president. He is tied with Bush at the hip and his skeltons are rattling so heavy, you repukes have nothing except to dream up the most horrible lies you can.

Rick post our last name with your comments so we know exactly who you are. Or mebbe you are working for the GOP here in Delaware to put out your comments. You do a great disservice to the GOP which is why they can’t get elected dog catcher anywhere.

37. Pandora says:

“if this is an example of what your neo con repukes will do to damage Obama…that means only one thing…you are supporting the biggest most corrupt horrible liar..John McCain.”

Actually, if this is the best they can do we’re home free!

Pathetic.

38. liz allen says:

Steve, if she is going to run third party she will to create one. Ralph Nader is the nominee for Independents, Cynthia McKinney is the green candidate, and Bob Barr is the Libertarian….so what other little party could she go to…none because the the two parties have fixed the rules and regulations in every state to make sure a candidate from a third party can’t get on the ballots in all states. Its of course unconsitutional, and opposite the Consitution and the founding fathers, who were absolutely against a two party system…but I digress.

39. Al Mascitti says:

“the founding fathers, who were absolutely against a two party system…”

They were against parties, period. There is no talk in the Federalist Papers of “two parties” (or factions, as they were then known). They were against all “factions,” period.

And, in fact, nothing about the party system is “unconstitutional,” because it wasn’t mentioned in the constitution either way, meaning it was left up to the states and the people.

40. Al Mascitti says:

“Farakan never admitted any such thing. Malcolm was killed by the FBI, not Farakan you idiot.”

Idiot yourself.

Excerpts from a 2000 CBS News press release:

“Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan admits in a 60 Minutes interview broadcast Sunday and reported on Wednesday’s CBS Evening News that his incendiary rhetoric played a role in the 1965 assassination of civil rights leader Malcolm X. …

“…In 1964, Malcolm X revealed publicly that Elijah Mohammed, the leader of the Nation of Islam, was guilty of impregnating several of his teenage secretaries, in direct violation of his own preachings against sex outside of marriage.

Farrakhan was outraged. He called Malcolm X a traitor and wrote, two months before the killing, that “such a man is worthy of death.” Farrakhan has denied ordering the assassination but later admitted to having “helped create the atmosphere” that led to it. ”

The FBI, for its part, warned Malcolm several months before his death that he had been marked for assassination by the Nation of Islam.

41. RickJ19958 says:

Once again, I feel the need to clearly state that I am RickJ19958, and no abbreviated version thereof.

42. Pandora says:

There was no confusion on my part.

43. liz allen says:

Al: are you for real! Farakan didnt like the politics of Malcolm…but he never admitted killing him…thats false on its face. If he had admitted it he would be in jail right now.

The two factions at that time were in heated struggles for what to do about the plight of blacks in america. But to stretch that controversy into a killing…is ridiculous.

If you ever saw the movie on Malcom X, you would know it was the NY police and the FBI who wanted to shut both of them up. And nowhere in the movie on Malcoms life is it said, that Farakan had him killed. For a while the people wondered it that were true, but it was never proven and Farakan never admitted such bs. In fact, Malcolms wife and children are very close with Farakan today, so do you think they would be friends if they believed him responsible…get some factual history.

44. Al Mascitti says:

You’re now quoting a movie on his life as fact? Get some factual history yourself. Read what I posted again:

“Farrakhan … called Malcolm X a traitor and wrote, two months before the killing, that “such a man is worthy of death.” Farrakhan has denied ordering the assassination but later admitted to having “helped create the atmosphere” that led to it. ”

Jesus, can you even read?

45. cassandra_m says:

Dr. Betty Shabazz (wife of Malcom X) has been dead for almost a decade and she spoke out in a very famous speech (made close to the end of her life) specifically calling out Louis Farrakan as being one of those responsible for Malcolm’s assassination.

One more thing — Malcolm X’ s daughter, Quibilah, was arrested for trying to hire an assassin to murder Farrakan. She was a troubled kid, but it would be a real stretch to call any part of Malcolm X’s family as reconciled to Farrakan.

46. Al Mascitti says:

There’s only about, oh, several million mentions of this stuff on the interwebs. Ignore it all, Cass. Liz saw the movie.
