  1. Disbelief says:

I feel sorry for Buchanan. He published his book the same day McClellan came out with the Bushco ‘tell-all’, now Pat’s up against Markell’s book. I think he needs a new publisher.

I recall Jason’s in this business (I think it was either kiddie educational books or Nepalese fart fetish porn, I forget which). Maybe he should give Buchanan a call.

  2. jason330 says:

I am in the book business in the same way Ken Osmond was in the entertainment business.

  3. Disbelief says:

Is he related to Donnie and Marie? Loved the dental work.

  4. Al Mascitti says:

Don’t feel too sorry yet. A Markell victory is no foregone conclusion. You’ve seen “UnionGal” I assume. There are hundreds if not thousands like her out there — brain-dead zombies sucking on the union teat who will do whatever they’re told.

  5. Disbelief says:

I’m hoping the Party Hack contingent behind Carney is the higher up, well paid, line-my-pockets administrator who is out of touch with his union crew.

  6. jason330 says:

    No Dis,

I saw that machine in action working for Ennis and it is a machine.

Al is right – I was just thinking on a personal level. I picture John getting this press release and saying, “Jack’s got a book? We don’t have a book. Why don’t we have a book? We should have a book.”

  7. Al Mascitti says:

If history is any guide, Carney’s campaign should be announcing HIS book in about 1 hour.

  8. Disbelief says:

Or he’ll announce formation of a committee to write a book.

  9. selander says:

The Carney book will include passages that attack Markell for “negative personal paperbacks” and an “election-year table of contents.”

  10. Graniaclewbay says:

I find it interesting that the opening is at the 1212 Club, does that mean he will overhaul DSAMH so that we get the kind of drug and alcohol treatment in the State of Delaware that is necessary, instead of closing IOP’s and holding them to psych stats instead of clean time stats. This oughta be interesting. I’m going to show up just to hear this one…..Oops, don’t tell work…

  11. Is this like a real BOOK book or just a Celia Cohen type thing?

  12. Sagacious Steve says:

Jason: The ‘Ennis’ and ‘Carson’ machines were not primarily or exclusively the Carney and/or union machines.

I can tell you that many associated with those campaign are Jack supporters, and some key people in that race have even worked in the past for Jack, and some still do.

I think that this race will ultimately be decided by the grassroots effort on the ground, ID’ing your support and getting them out. I think the camp that knocks on the most doors wins in this case.

Don’t know who will win, but I wanted to challenge the ‘conventional wisdom’ of the so-called Carney machine.

  13. smyrnadudette says:

I agree with Sagacious Steve. I was/am a member of the Ennis/Carson machine, and I BACK JACK!!!!!

  14. Music Mann says:

Yes, it was indeed a BOLD move by Markell to accept this recommendation from his print media consultant.

It shows true leadership when you can package all of the position papers written by your out-of-state consultants into one staggeringly boring tome.

Jack Markell is set to singlehandedly solve the insomnia problem in the State of Delaware.

  15. Sagacious Steve says:

I know that it’s a difficult concept for Music Mann to understand, but some people are capable of thinking for themselves w/o having some media consultants or members of the ‘permanent government’ (such as Gary Patterson, Joe Farley, Bobby Byrd, et al) telling them what to think.

That’s what attracted me to Markell in the first place and that’s why I support him so strongly. Delaware really needs that, especially now.

  16. Music Mann says:

Top 5 five most likely titles for Jack Markell’s new book:

    5. Out of State Fundraising: How to Troll For Cash Far From Home

    4. Spurning Ruth Ann: Throwing Your Mentor Under the Bus For Political Gain

    3. Talking the Talk: How to Sound Like You Really Know Things

    2. The Ultimate Insider’s Guide to Running Like an Outsider

And the number one most likely title of Jack Markell’s new book:

    1. How to Run For Governor By Accomplishing Absolutely Nothing!

  17. Sagacious Steve says:

Music Mann: I’m all for snark, in fact, I LOVE snark. But snark without substance is embarrassing.

But while we’re on the topic of ‘throwing your political mentor under the bus for political gain’, I’m reminded that John Carney is trying to boldly position himself as challenging his mentor by petitioning for the release of the cancer data. When one notices that Vince Meconi, Secretary of the very department keeping this info from the public, is a staunch Carney supporter (check out John’s website), one must ask: Is John (a) so impotent that he’s unable to get information released to the public from his purported supporter, or (b) is he engaged in Kabuki theatre to convince us that the hand-picked puppet of Aunt Bea is truly a strong independent leader?

    I’m hard-pressed to come up with a (c).

  18. Al Mascitti says:

Don’t forget Carney’s tactic for getting Bluewater done: An online petition. I got my phone call last night — a live one, not a robocall — from someone asking me to sign it. Effectiveness, thy name is Carney.

Ever notice that Carney’s online supporter changes names for every thread?

  19. UnionGal says:

“I know that it’s a difficult concept for Music Mann to understand, but some people are capable of thinking for themselves w/o having some media consultants or members of the ‘permanent government’ (such as Gary Patterson, Joe Farley, Bobby Byrd, et al) telling them what to think.”

Only Jack Markell just gets his ideas from out of state instead of in state. The health care plan riped straight from Masachussetts and the ideas he takes from other states, repackaged in print.

His plans are all repackaged junk. That health care plan dies on day one in the Senate and its not doing so hot in Boston either.

You all are buying the fluff and jumping in with both feet when there’s nothing there. Ask Billy Oberle about what Jack did to his education savings plan (hijacked it). Ask Nemiah Gateway what Jack did to their plan for the earned tax thing (hijacked it).

Come on people, the man’s never had an original idea in his life and youre all anointing him the second coming!

John’s ideas are doable and none of them will ever hit Thurmon Adamses drawer, because the Democrats in the legislature respect John. When has Jack ever gone into Leg Hall and gotten something done? Never, that’s when.

  20. Al Mascitti says:

You mean the way John is getting the Bluewater Wind deal done? Yes, going to Thurman Adams with a petition in hand really underscores the high esteem they hold him in. Who’s drinking Kool-Aid again?

“Ask Nemiah [sic] Gateway what Jack did to their plan for the earned tax thing (hijacked it).”

Yes, and the Nehemiah Gateway organization is so angry about it that they show Jack’s picture on their “Partners” page.

If you’re the kind of deep-researching supporter Carney is inspiring, he’d better start worrying. That 20-point lead shrank awfully fast, and Markell hasn’t even started spending money yet.

“Come on people, the man’s never had an original idea in his life and you’re all anointing him the second coming!’

Wrong. I’m not interested in seeing another Democrat who’s bought and paid for by special interests, including unions. If you’re in a union I know why you’re supporting him — I just don’t see a good reason for the rest of us to do so.

  21. selander says:

….And you know that idea he had to name that company Nextel – he didn’t even come up with the idea for the phone. Alexander Graham Bell did in the 1870s!

    Seriously, though:
    a) Why don’t Carney supporters use their real names on this site?
    b) If Jack’s ideas are all “fluff” why does John keep repackaging so many of them a few weeks later?

  22. Anon says:

Jack Markell: “Vote for me because I steal other people’s ideas two weeks before my opponent does.”

Anybody hear the joke about Jack’s new book?

It only costs $2.5 billion. And he doesn’t know how to pay for it either.

  23. No Name for Privacy says:

Let’s get rid of the hacks….from Dover to your driveway…..I favor voting for almost anyone challenging an incumbent (Dems…be bold enough to take a look a Rep. challanges…we could get another Lavalle or two.)
