Charlie Copeland: “I like to watch.”

Filed in National by on June 19, 2008

Oddly, Charlie Copeland is not running away from his “Chauncey Gardner” reputation with his first email of the campaign season. Get a load of this…

Friends,

Welcome to the first email from my campaign!

Periodically, over the next few months, I will send messages about the campaign, what we’ve been up to, and most importantly, I will share ideas on how we can again make Delaware the First State.

For the past six years, as a state senator, I have seen firsthand the downward spiral of our state. I have heard from Delawareans about struggles in their daily lives and know that poor leadership and mismanagement by the Governor and Lieutenant Governor has made life more difficult for too many.

(emphasis mine)

Get it? Charlie is an ordinary Joe just like us. What we all need to understand is that the Delaware Senate is simply the front row of the spectators gallery.

He had a great view of everything that happened over the past six years – but he was about as useless as a blogger when it came to doing anything.  Like the in-state wind power deal. I swear his letterhead must say: “Who me?”

That’s why he should be Lt. Governor – because then he’d really have a great view!!

  1. Al Mascitti says:

While your conclusion is correct, try to remember that Republicans in the Senate really are the equivalent of bumps on a log. It reminds one of the line uttered by John McMullen, once part-owner of the New York Yankees: “Nothing is more limited than being a limited partner of George Steinbrenner’s.” Sorta the same thing.
