Pay attention. This is what we don’t want to do, or… All Hands on Deck

The Republican Party is in trouble. I know this because I recognize the signs. They are acting like… well… Democrats.

Conservative activists are preparing to do battle with allies of Sen. John McCain in advance of September’s Republican National Convention, hoping to prevent his views on global warming, immigration, stem cell research and campaign finance from becoming enshrined in the party’s official declaration of principles.

Sound familiar?

The Republican Party has splintered, but that doesn’t necessarily equate with a November loss. Victory or defeat lies in our hands. I’ve never demanded purity politics from a politician – and Obama is, and always was, a politician. A smart politician. How smart are we? Smart enough to pick our battles?

For example, I do not want Senator Obama engaging in debates on guns or abortions. What I want is President Obama appointing Supreme Court Judges. I do not want Senator Obama filibustering FISA – providing endless sound bites for the MSM and the Republicans. I want President Obama to restore the Constitution.
