Delaware’s Hottest Blogger — The Music Competition

Filed in National by on July 18, 2008

Yes, I missed most of the competitive events for this deal, but hey, I work for a living — unlike all of the Trust Fund Babies front-paging this blog.

In avoidance of another subject (don’t make me come over there DV), we are hijacking this blog this sizzling Friday afternoon to post Hot Music representative of the hotness of DHBs. Afterall, in my crowd, the ultimate question on teh hotness was: “Yeah, he looks good, but can he dance?” The fun is in finding out the answer….

So here’s one Hot music entry and I challenge my blog pals to surpass this hot music with their own candidates (if they can):

Here is mine (jason330’s) entry:

(Special shoutout to Steve Newton for making sure that the finest part of DE Liberal takes the stage.)

Donviti

So a little background to this song.   I used to own a crappy 82 Buick Skylark, it was my first car.  I was at a very, very bad time in my life.  I don’t think I ever felt so alone in my entire life.  It was my 17th birthday, Nov2nd and I went out for a drive.  I remember this song playing on the radio, I was up on Rt 202 (Concord Pike) and 141.  What is now all AZ land back then it was just starting to go under the knife and was nothing but dirt and weeds.  I pulled off the road where I guess 141 now goes through, I followed a dirt road that the contstrutction trucks were starting to use, stopped my car and climbed onto my hood.  I remember blaring the radio, staring at the stars and crying my eyes out.  To this day the song is a constant reminder to me 1) of how alone I was and how awful my teenage years were 2) How the land was sold to a Drug Company that gets rich off Americans out of pure greed and how horrible politics are that can allow a company to bribe it’s way into a state for Jobs, paying no taxes, getting Tens of Millions in construction and then will lay off thousands of people like clockwork when the CEO’s aren’t making their profits to get them their bonus.

Reminder that you get to vote on DHB at the next Drinking Liberally on July 31 at Catherine Rooney’s — all funds raised go to send Tom Noyes to report on the Democratic National Convention for us.

And get with it the rest of you — post some videos!

  2. G Rex says:

    Jason’s bringin’ sexy back.

  3. jason330 says:

    PUKE! Was that you DV?

Who put up that Peter Gabriel song and that schmaltzy story? You just lost five votes.

  4. liberalgeek says:

It wasn’t me. Must’ve been Mr. Weak Handshake.

  5. cassandra m says:

OK, funny is worth alot of hotness points!

I never heard of that group before, Jason, but that video was hysterical. What a great takeoff and every 70’s excess there was…..

But Peter Gabriel — oh dear. It may be a rule that Peter Gabriel songs confer automatic hotness on the person wielding it — the Lloyd Dobler effect.

  6. cassandra m says:

    Where’s your video, LG?

  7. liberalgeek says:

I’m doing a couple of lines of coke first. You how us trust-fund babies can be…

  8. Joe: Dude, where’d she dump you, man?
    Lloyd Dobler: In the car.
Denny: Oh man, your car? Man, Dissed in the Malibu. Thats your castle, man.

  9. liberalgeek says:

Mine is posted. I was torn between Hendrix and Lou Reed. I thought Hendrix was more accessible.

  10. cassandra m says:

You how us trust-fund babies can be…

Actually, I don’t, but ya learn something new every day, I guess….

  11. cassandra m says:

Ooooo…Jimi Hendrix! Hotness in leather pants! Definitely music to make you give up the hotness points and you’ll damn well like it….good job, LG…

  12. G Rex says:

    Lloyd, Lloyd, null and void.

I was betting on The Crying Game for Geek…

  13. liberalgeek says:

    Ouch. Boy George reference.

Oh, and your quote above is on a hidden track on the soundtrack to Say Anything.

  14. G Rex says:

Hidden track? Thanks, I didn’t know that.

  15. mike w. says:

Gonna have to give the edge to LG here. I’m a huge Hendrix fan.

  16. Rebecca says:

Handrix for hotness and whatever that was that Jason put up for weirdness.

  17. Dominique says:

I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.
    – Lloyd Dobler

I would vote for DV just based on that song.

  18. liberalgeek says:

Dominique is voting for DV? Does that make hime the Hillary of the election or the McCain. Either way, I think you lose, DV.

  19. no one is paying you to think, just keep the site up and running bro

There is something inspirational when the fifth movement of Beethoven’s Ninth is coming from the speakers and there is over 400 hp under the hood.

The self-proclaimed slaves to trendiness will never get it. Too bad for them.

  21. liberalgeek says:

DV – you sound bitter. I guess you are the “Hillary.”

  22. cassandra_m says:

Pandora! Excellent song, very danceable, very hot….

  23. pandora says:

Thanks, Cassandra! I’m predicting a tie between the ladies of DL! Your song was sultry! Okay… I’ll admit, DV had me at Peter Gabriel.
