Ever tried it?

WOOOHOOOO, I tried this stuff once and I have to tell you, If I could go back in time or recreate that day/evening, I would do it over and over and over again without question.

Once banned, absinthe is back (at an ABC store near you)

    The traditional ritual involves adding three parts iced water – drop by drop – to one part absinthe. This brings out the essential oils dissolved in the alcohol and causes the drink to louche – or turn a cloudy, opalescent white. The water is sometimes dripped over a sugar cube, which rests on a slotted spoon above the glass.

    You mean I can’t just chug it with a funnel?

    Never tried it, but I’m glad to see it’s no longer banned. My guess is that the Thujone/wormwood content of stuff sold in the U.S. is going to be very low.

    Tried it first in Amsterdam…kinka like gambling for the first time in Vegas.

    First of all, the stuff tastes horrible, but the buzz is like no other…trippy, but not hallucinogenic.

    Many drink it with Coke (the cola), but the truly traditional way would be the method mentioned above along with a couple drops of laudanum.

    The most fun way I have had it (in Amsterdam as well) is to put the prepared drink in a shot glass on a saucer and pour some extra absinthe around the shot glass. Take a bell jar, hold it directly over the saucer, and light the absinthe on fire. This causes some smoke to accumulate in the bell jar. When the fire burns out, turn over the jar and inhale the fumes, then take the shot and hold on to your chair…

    I saw that too!

    The joint where I had it was the “Bar Absinithe”. A dark, little place where you have to go down some steps (from street level). Almost like a basement. I think it was just north of the Dam, about a block or so over.

    You could always grow some wormwood and distill your own…

    You don’t even have to grow it, you can buy it from some head shops or Wicken stores. Get some very high proof vodka (at least 100, polish), and steep the wormwood in the vodka with some anise and other herbs and you can get something similar, though not as strong…

    I tried it in an opium den in Sri Lanka. I injected it directly under my eyelid while bathing in pure adrinechrome and chewing the thyroid of a dwarf Burmese elephant.
