Lee blames his poor fundraising on his horrible campaign

Filed in National by on August 14, 2008
Dana Garrett picked up on something I totally missed:

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee today hinted at some trouble in his campaign staff. Some “personnel changes” needed to be made:
“We had some turmoil in our fundraising and made some personnel changes. There were a couple weeks of transition there.” (source)
I really don’t care which Republican lost his or her job in the campaign. Indeed, I am in favor of all Republicans losing their campaign jobs. But I post this only to point out that it is never wise to explain away your poor fundraising totals by blaming turmoil caused by your campaign staff. It is not something that inspires confidence in your ability to not only run a campaign, but also run the state.

This is awesome. I commented over at Dana’s – but that the only downside to the DE GOP being such a clusterfuck is that it might make it harder to clean house on the Dem side.

Brian was in here yesterday hinting at resignations — are these it?

Besides, for a guy who needs to buy signs and pay for the First Annual Delaware Republican Non-Victory Party, he seems to be raising just about enough money.

First Annual? I think we are on the 11th or 12th annual.

True, but Lee is the legendary party animal — wouldn’t this be the first time they blow their campaign budgets at some bash at Rehobeth?

People getting fired for doing a bad job is not the problem with the state government. It’s people NOT getting fired.

Plus, if the way you run your campaign is indicative of the way you will run the state, hold on to your wallets for Jack Markell, who has a shown a clear propensity for blowing through huge wads of cash at every opportunity.

Whereas Lee has shown a clear propensity to just not showing up.

  7. FSP says:

Actually, he shows up every day. Just not the way the chattering classes and lunatic pretenders would like him to.

  8. cassandra m says:

Ah. Sort of like Ruth Ann, but with better cocktails, then.

  9. FSP says:

Exactly the opposite, but thanks for digging around for some sort of response.
