  3. Sharon

I Wanna Hold Your Hand by the Beatles

  4. “He’s So Fine” by the Chiffons. I think I’m the oldest… and the wisest!

    Great song BTW

  5. Dear God what were you people thinking in the 70’s. The clothes, the hair styles. You were all on drugs. Oh wait….

  6. FSP

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – the Elton John cover version.

  7. Nice! “In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)” by Zager & Evans. If that had influence on me, it’s that it is certainly LSD-infused and my ramblings sound the same. 😀

For me it was Freddie and the Dreams “I’m telling you now”
Dude, wasn’t that released, like in, 1954 or something? You’re younger than I thought!

  8. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – the Elton John cover version.

When I looked up mine, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” was the top song the entire month. *sigh* And Dana must be older than dirt! 😉

(Just Like) Starting Over by John Lennon (Jan. 19, 1981).

I’m sort of ashamed to say that off the top of my head I can’t even think of how that song goes…

  17. You baby! 1981??? The year I gradu — Nevermind.

  18. That is a great song. Off the Double Fantasy album (those were those big black vinyl disks).

  19. Those are records, LG.

An album is a collections of songs, irrespective of the medium.

  20. Geek is right. We had albums. Records were 45s. 45s, you ask? Look it up!!

  21. I’m with Joe on this one. We still have “albums” today. An album is a collected group of songs outside of the standard “physical” album definition. For instance: “The new David Byrne digital album is awesome!”

  22. Von Cracker

OMFSM it’s “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” by The Bee Gees

“A Little Bird Told Me” by Evelyn Knight 1949

  28. I may be old, but I ain’t dead yet.

  29. JohnnyX

Ha, I know what records are – don’t you guys worry. I was a proud owner of a copy of Thriller on vinyl during my youth. Incidentally, in third grade when we had to do a biography of a person and come in dressed up like them to present it I chose Michael Jackson – wore one white glove and lip sync-ed and everything. I suppose I could have made it more accurate by darkening my face with makeup, but actually at that point in MJ’s career he was growing ever paler anyway.

Anyway – back to the records. I actually just a year or so ago bought a new turntable and have been steadily amassing a collection of old records courtesy of Goodwill for $1 a pop. There are some great finds out there if you take the time.

Joe M.–I am crying over the “Greensleaves” comment…you have my kids even laughing too–great one!!! But–they thought I would be some Gregorian Chant….

Oh yea!!! I’m Venus by Frankie Avalon–and that’s it–I’m changing my driver’s license, Acme Super Saver card, and applying for my new screen name here at DL right now. Pandora–I found a screen name!!! This was a bunch of fun….I already have some great stories with this song…..so it was a double hit to see it pop-up!! I love it!!!! And Frankie Avalon too!!!
