Drill Here, Drill What?

Filed in National by on September 16, 2008

Yesterday, I wrote about the current state of play of the legislation up to allow for off shore drilling. Finally, someone provides the graphic that shows the magnitude of the latest bamboozlement over off shore drilling:

There isn’t much oil to get, according to this Government data and the Republicans have gotten their base all excited basically for another scheme to try to give the oil industry yet another subsidy. The conservative free markets at work, my friends.

  1. Duffy says:

I wonder how much of an offset renewable energy would be on that chart.

  2. DPN says:

Listen, I go to the gas station once a week, consequently I am a petroleum engineer.

So, heed me when I say this, offshore drilling won’t put a dent in our energy crisis.

  3. cassandra_m says:

That is a really good question, Duffy. I presume you mean oil replacement renewables i.e. ethanol. I’ll look around for an answer….

  4. David says:

How is it a subsidy for them to put their money out to find and harvest the product, and pay us ruyalties and leases? They would be subsidizing us.

  5. cassandra_m says:

The tax credits and the reduced lease pricing is the subsidy. They certainly do not spend alot of their own money on exploration, that’s for sure.

  6. Tom S. says:

Didn’t you folks say we hit “peak oil”?

  7. cassandra_m says:

    “You folks”?

I don’t know this for a fact, but it’s a pretty good guess that no one on this blog is involved in the current data crunching to determine peak oil, so I’d say, no, actually — we certainly did not say that.

  8. mike w. says:

I assume he means liberals Cass.

This site is named “Delaware LIBERAL” is it not?

  9. cassandra_m says:

Well I guess if you don’t know, mike, why YES, the name of this blog is Delaware Liberal!

So special of you to ask that!

And I would assume that if Tom S wants to address the liberals on this blog hyping up Peak Oil, he would have addressed them personally.

    Whoever they might be.

  10. Von Cracker says:

Come on Mike! I’m still waiting for an answer on the Ayers issue….is it still valid given that the Annenberg Group brought he and Obama together for a community project?

No answer? Or don’t you want to answer it because it brings all the other complaints/smears/lies/half-truths about Obama into question?

Come on! Be a Man and tell me again why the Ayers issue is legit in your mind!
