Sen. Carper Outlines Support for Financial Rescue Plan

Filed in Delaware by on October 1, 2008

WASHINGTON — Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) issued the following statement in response to Senate passage late tonight of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Bill (H.R. 1424):

“The Senate acted responsibly tonight by passing an economic stabilization package.

“No one is happy that we have reached this point, and I agree with many of my constituents that taxpayers should not pay for Wall Street’s mistakes. But c’mon, the people getting money are rich. If my constituents wanted me to pay more attention to what they think, they could get off the old wallet, if you catch my drift.

“I believe this rescue plan will restore the blah, blah, blah ..,nobody reads this shit. Bette, are you sure we even need to release a statement? Okay. Whatever. “

Where is the do-nothing Congress when you need them?

Carper: “What are they going to do, primary me? Run a serious Republican against me? Hah, That’ll never happen as long as Mikc Castle is around…. ”

    (long pause)….

“Bette, could you please ring Mike Castle and check in on him again?”

Only 1/3 of the Senators are up for re-election this year. It was easy for them to endorse this “bail out for Wall Street”, as most of them are millionaires. There is a different take in the House today, as many progressives and republicans have a bill of their own, which bails out Main Street not Wall Street.

Carper should be taken to task for his constant support of corporate america. What has Carper ever done for the citizens of Delaware he should just put an R after his name, because he is a republican in democrat clothes.

Castle voted for the bailout in the house because he knew there were not enough votes to pass it. Thats what Castles voting record reflects..he votes for issues he knows will fail and then continue to give an impression he is a “moderate”. Mike Castle, the Bush/McCain enabler needs retirement this term.

Jason you posted here a few weeks ago that KHN should give her press releases to Delaware Liberal. However, I see none of them posted, is Delaware Liberal supporting Mike Castle? I do see some posted at the Delaware Way, what gives?

    Liberal geek posted on it.

I agree with him that it is good to see Karen taking it to Castle.
