700 billion down the drain…

awesome

LONDON – Asian and European stock markets plunged Monday as government bank bailouts in the U.S. and Europe failed to alleviate fears that the global financial crisis would depress world economic growth.

Investors took scant comfort from Washington’s passage of a $700 billion plan to buy bad assets from banks and other institutions to shore up the financial industry on Friday because of the uncertainty still hanging over the details of the deal and the degree to which it will help.

Dow is still plunging. Down 400 last I saw. So will we finish Bush’s term with a lower stock market and less jobs than when he started? I get a feeling no one is going to be talking about Wright, Rezko or Ayers very much right now.

What we need is another $700,000,000,000 for the executives who got us into this.

    STAT!!!!

  4. Well it was really 0nly ~550 billion since 150ish was all pork.

Funny how McCain voted for a bill FULL of pork when he’s supposed to be Mr. anti-earmark.

  5. Getting ready to board. Any guesses on what the Dow will be when I land at 3?

Well, tomorrow’s debate should be interesting! I hope Obama is in constant contact with economists and his economic advisers.

When do the NYSE circuit-breakers kick in?

For the debate I am expecting McCain to make a play about how while he was sitting in a bamboo cage defending America, Obama’s buddy Ayers was attacking America… never mind Obama was 8 yrs old.

I am also expecting McCain to try to pin the economic crisis on Democrats and Obama…

I am also expecting Obama to expect both of these attacks, and to have compelling responses.

I’m pretty sure Obama is ready for McCain’s attacks. Hopefully he can repeat some of what Joe Biden did.

  9. UI – You mean flat out lying? Biden lied his ass off during the debate.
