State of the Race: Matt Denn (D) vs. Charlie Copeland (R)
The Lt. Governor’s race is shaping up to be the one slim shot the Republicans have for getting a statewide win. I think Denn has a whole lot of good will and name recognition going into this race. Copeland, meanwhile, is a lying low life piece of human garbage, so he is capable of anything.
For example Charlie claims to have been a big wind farm supporter and he appears to be getting backdoor donation from the DE GOP thereby circumventing campaign finance laws. [More to follow]
On balance I think Denn is the favorite right now based on his track record statewide and his the (D) next to his name.
Bottom Line: Denn 52% Copeland 47%

Track record really isn’t that clear to the average voter. (D) maybe yes however , as I’ve been ranting there will a record number of minority voters and first time minority voters out just to vote for Obama and they are not out just to vote for (D).
Copeland has been working the minority community quite well and has great support from many minority leaders. I still think Copeland has better name recognition and if it’s down to “pick one” the name (not the person) stands right out!
However, the more Copeland stands by Lee side he’ll lose votes.
Copeland’s open government legislation fell on its face because he wasn’t trying to sell it to the public. Here was Red Clay embroiled in financial crisis and Copeland trying to sell school finance transparency.
I am not flip-flopping, I am for Obama and Markell all the way and glad to be out the Delaware GOP.
It’s seems many are afraid to call this race because they don’t want to be wrong! But your % call is fair and does show some concerns for Denn!

That is the crux of the backdoor statement in the post. It seems Copeland is getting GOP money to flow to ‘Democrats for Copeland’ which is nothing more than Norman Oliver appearing on cable t.v. every Sunday night telling viewers to vote against every Republican other than Charlie Copeland.
I need to do more leg work on it but I’m sure Copeland is getting a regular $4,000 donation from the DEGOP in violation of campaign finance laws.
I’m gonna be talking about this in, like, two minutes. The Copeland/Oliver connection is disturbing.
Long before Copeland made a decision to run for Lt. Gov. he stepped up to make attempts to address prison healthcare reform! There are many minorities within the prison system and their extended families in the communities. Though far from being a champion for minorities Copeland has been doing more for the cause then Denn. Oliver doesn’t rule the street Pastor D does!

Clocks is ticking and being in the end game it would look like just mudsling from someone worried about losing! Wouldn’t be to Denn advantage!
I want to know why people think this Lt Governor race is that close. Seriously, I’m not sure why Copeland should be an outlier in this environment.

I have long thought that he is running to be the next GOP golden boy in waiting.
How does Copeland have higher name recognition? Maybe in northern Delaware that’s true, but south of the canal, he’s the guy whose signs copy Mike Castle’s. Denn has run statewide once before, and has the name recognition edge.

Maybe not but many odds are in his favor and now he saying, maybe I can do this. You gave him 47%
Why?
Copeland is playing his card a bit better and as I said, the minority factor may be the push!
Think about this and I talking all voters that maybe clueless to what the hell is going on. They step in the voting booth see two names:
Copeland
Denn
Which names stands out! What are the random odds! There will be many new young first time voters and new minorities voters just in it to vote for Obama and Biden. The random odds increase in this election and Copeland reaps the odds!
