    Yep, the Republicans defend Palin by saying she’s within her statutory authority, never mind the abuse of it. They certainly think it’s ok to fire people for whatever bullshit reason they think up. I’ve got stuck in my head that Bushi Sarah Taylor (?) who said “I swore an oath to the president.” I think it must be because Republicans tend to be more authoritarian.

    I’m an Obama supporter, but this smells of politics like when the Republicans impeached Clinton. A democratic panel in an election year…no power abuses there?? Come on!

    let’s get back to the issues that matter like the economy, Iraq war

    UI is right. A Repub lead legislature in AK opened the inquiry well before anyone knew who this woman was. The measure to begin the investigation passed unanimously, I believe. No parallel to Clinton at all. Sorry dude.

    The fact that this inquiry was going on at all was one of the reasons why many scratched their heads when Palin got the nod — who in their right minds picks someone with this kind of sword of Damocles hanging over their heads?

    I just started Tom Franks’ The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule and your abuse of power observation seems to be the central thesis of the book.

    I still think we’re missing the ball. It’s just going to lead to more mud-slinging…Wright, Ayers, Rezko-whether there are deserved parallels or not.

    I think he was referring to a gardener – you know, like the kid who cuts the grass. How could that have anything to do with Obama? It’s not racist at all. It was a joke – the kind you would normally tell.

    Oh, and don’t think all republicans subscribe to “Bush Republicanism.” Some do, some don’t, and Republicans can hardly be said to hold a monopoly on “abuses of power.”
