Wasn’t the magical bailout supposed to prevent all this? We’re giving Treasury $2.25 TRILLION and they still can’t fix it.
To be fair, it took more than a year to get to this point and it will take some time for the banks and markets to stabilize too.
Part of the problem is fears of worldwide recession being longer and deeper than expected. OPEC voted to cut back production by about 2% and after that the price of a barrel of oil actually dropped.
