There is a story going around about a mugging in the Pittsburgh area where a woman had a “B” carved into her face after the African-American mugger noticed she was a McCain supporter. Hube and Delaware Politics are running with this story.
Here are some excerpts from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette.
Pittsburgh police detectives for the second time last night interviewed a John McCain campaign volunteer who told them she was mugged and the letter B cut into her face following a robbery in Bloomfield on Wednesday.
She said a man armed with a knife demanded her money. She gave it to him, then began walking to her car, which had McCain stickers on it. She told police that although the robber had moved away from her, he became agitated when he saw her car, punched her in the back of the head, pushed her to the ground and carved a B into her face.
“This is what she’s telling police,” police spokeswoman Diane Richard said. “We can’t substantiate it at this time.”
Ms. Todd told police during at least five hours of questioning last night that her attacker said to her, “You are going to be a Barack supporter.” She told police the man then sat on her chest, pinning both her hands down with his knees and used what she believed was a dull knife with a roughly 5-inch blade to carve the B.
Police were checking surveillance video of the Wednesday ATM incident.
Several employees at nearby businesses last night said they were unaware of the attack.
The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama issued the following statement: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.”

I don’t think political junkies on the right and the left should get in this story. I read this morning that the police are giving the woman a lie detector test. It may be a hoax.

Considering the tone and words used in Hube’s post on this, it seems to me he was satirizing delawaredem’s earlier post about the bear which, strangely, was not satire..
IMHO, this is a sad story no matter which way it goes: political attack or hoax. For Ashley Todd, it is odd to say, but I am hoping her story is real, otherwise her life as it was a few days ago will be forever changed.
Joe M, I agree it was satire but the underlying story Hube was using, he was obviously using as fact. I did want to go over there and comment, “Fuck you and yours” as he did here.

If this in fact is not a hoax I think everyone can agree that, regardless of our support for Obama and the race-baiting ramble-rousing of Palin, this is beyond horrible. But I must say that if Malkin isn’t buying it something is fishy.
