DelawareLiberal.Net Down-Ticket Endorsements: The Senate

Filed in Delaware by on October 31, 2008

The following are DelawareLiberal’s endorsements for the State Senate. A lack of an endorsement should signify nothing besides a lack of information on our part.

4th SD Mike Katz emerged out of a tough primary and is now facing John Clatworthy, son of a former Biden opponent. Dr Katz is well-informed, realistic and cerebral. He has shown a good deal of class during this campaign. Meanwhile, his opponent has been slinging mud like an old pro, which, of course, he is. Mr. Clatworthys behavior during this campaign has been right out of the right-wing manifesto. The closer the race, the more lies and deceptions you pull out. It’s been said that Walter Mondale campaigned toward the end of his Presidential run as “he wanted his grandchildren to see him.” As election day nears, whose eyes does Clatworthy think are upon him? I can think of no better way to reward Charlie Copeland than to elect Dr. Michael Katz to sit in his former seat in the Senate.

10th SD Bethany Hall Long is battling James Weldin for this Senate seat, currently held by Steve Amick. This is a race between a nurse and a cop (sounds like workforce housing is working!!!). The politics in Middletown is getting pretty weird these days. Even some of our friendly Republican friends (I’m lookin’ at you Smitty) have all sorts of cloak and dagger stories about the goings on down there. BHL was even accused of shutting the Republicans out of the best spots at some festival in Middletown. While it is tempting to endorse her only for that act, it appears that it isn’t true, so we will have to endorse her for her hard work, knowledge of the issues and advocacy to keep a consistently high standard of living in Middletown.

HA HA HA HA!!! That was a good one! 😆

The communities neck deep in the Rt 301 hearings can tell you volumes. HOWEVER, I don’t see her losing, so it is what it is.
