Comment Rescue: Biden Stories

I love this Biden story. Add yours in the comments.

Time for my Joe Biden story.

When the bill to repeal bankruptcy protections was first introduced, I was pretty steamed. I was not following politics much at that time, and I thought “We’ve got two Democratic senators – I’ll call them and find out how we can kill this thing!”

When I looked up the bill and found Biden was a co-sponsor – that was the beginning of my political education.

I resolved that if I ever ran into Biden, I would unload my own personal shitstorm on him about the bankruptcy bill.

And then… I did run into him. In the old Brookstone store at the Christiana mall. On Christmas Eve. We were two guys both doing our last-minute Christmas shopping for our families.

He was leaning against the counter waiting to pay. I circled the store a few times, trying to think of how to frame my rant.

Then I strode right up to him, and said:

“Merry Christmas, Senator Biden.”

I don’t have a “I saw Biden at Happy Harry’s” story, but I saw him in DC once.

He and Jill were walking toward me across the concourse of Union Station to catch a train.

Jill was stunning. I remember think that it looked like she had a spotlight shining on her.

My story begins when he hires me as a top member of his cabinet after he learns of my abilities as a 2-0 campaign manager for a Republican in two blue-tide years.

I’ll let you know how it ends (when I wake up).

Joe Biden once saved my life. DonViti and Jason jumped me behind Kid Shelleen’s and started beating me with brickbats. Joe Biden came along and said; “Alright boys, he’s had enough.”

  4. RSmitty says:

Wow. How’d that happen? Did you walk into the middle of their Socialists Club meeting?

I love duffy for using the term “brickbats.”

My story is that I saw Joe at an Ocktoberfest in Newark in 2002. The Bush Administration had set their sights on Iraq and I was against it. I got to spend 10 or so minutes discussing the issue with the ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee. Unfortunately, Joe was of the opinion that oil revenues would pay for the war…

Has anyone noticed that Joe has a very large noggin?

I just bumped into Joe at Return Day celebration. I yelled “WAY TO GO JOE!” as his horse drawn carriage passed. He waved and said, ” hello Delaware.”

Ran into him at Moveable Feast in 2004 and he made my baby cry!! She’s over it now. Kindergarten toughens you up.

But he did make a very meaningful appearance at my dad’s memorial service in ’05, gave my sisters and I big heartfelt smooches, and that all meant lots!
