Not Very Late Nite Oddity & Deep Thought

Filed in National by on November 17, 2008

I think people who are way into Renaissance Festivals think that it would be awesome to go back in time and actually live in the middle ages. But if they got magically transported to the year 1530 it would take them about an hour to figure out that the 1500’s sucked like mad and 2008 is awesome.

I’m pretty sure they just like the outfits and swords. They’d love to visit but they wouldn’t want to stay.

I mean, it’s not like they actually live in thatched cottages and eschew cars for horses.

I enjoy the Renaissance Faire in PA, but not that much. I would have no desire to be transported back to the 1500’s, nor have I ever worn a costume to a Ren Faire. I would miss my iPod and email.

Although, if I was ever forcibly transported back to the middle ages, I would try to follow the model of “The Boss” in A Conecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Don’t make me use my fire stick on you!

I’m with you Al. Whenever I’ve mused about going back in time I’ve always thought I’d need about 70 gallons of Chlorox to take along with me. And what would that do to the time-space continuum?

Agreed-between the odors, plagues, and inconveniences, they really didn’t “fair” too well.
